Small run of CTPCI

Post by foft »

I made myself a CTPCI following the release of the files here: CTPCI development files released

A few people asked me about making them one. I'm considering a small run of 10. Is anyone interested? Expected cost will be about 200USD including international shipping (from Switzerland or France). This includes a tested, flashed CTPCI board and the PCI slot board (4 slots). If you are interested please send me a PM.

Interested on the basis that it will work with the new version of CT60/CT63 that mpattonm is building.

Both CPLDs should be flashed with ABE_V7F and SDR_V7D jedecs, as these are versions recommended for CTPCI/SV configs https://mikrosk.github.io/ct60tos/ct60/ ... update.htm
Is it the one of those I have on currently open order? If yes, I could still do it before shipping it to you.

I got a couple extra, so if someone is still interested please drop me a message and/or post here.

I'll post updates here, likely to have them finished by the end July.

Anyway, if someone gets serious into CTPCI and makes redesign/update version, this is the one thing I would want to fix: https://mikrosk.github.io/ct60tos/ctpci ... nector.jpg

I hear you on that clash with the power connector. If reworked I’d want pci express and sata. Fewer pins:)

Also guys, don't forget that except the Radeon video it is all hit and miss -- there are long threads on AF where various people were trying to get USB/networking working with various degree of success. So don't blame foft if something is not working. ;)

I'm just saying this to avoid sad surprises, on the other hand I'm super-happy that FreeMiNT's USB and networking will get more testing with CTPCI (shame on me, mine is still disassembled).

For me video and network are very stable and possibly USB.
Possibly USB because I have removed my USB card to avoid a disaster.
One of my slots has burned due to the cheapo MIC USB card or may be my fault of using an USB-A extension cable to plug/unplug the USB storage.

However, networking is very good for any realtek 8139 cards...Big thanks to Mikro for this !!. :D
Even for cards based on 8139 with different PNP ID, you just have to add that PNP ID to the 8139 driver and it will work. My guess is that these cards are better quality cards than generic cards.

I think it does work with CT60e, though...
i) The CT60e flash chip apparently needs changing since the TOS 2.01/2.02 firmware released does not support this chip.
ii) The cables are even tighter than on the CT60. There are 2 40 pin cables that go under the CTPCI and on the CT60/CT63 they are off to the side. On the CT60e I think they are on top.
This is based on this thread, rather than my personal experience (I have a CT60 and a new CT63):
