Any trackers that record Audio for the STe?

Post by pringus »

Heyo,

I started out doing music on my Atari STe Cubase in 2000 and i've got a hankering to get it going again. Putting a gotek in & upgrading the RAM to 4mb and was wondering if there's anything like Octamed on the Amiga? Any programs that do audio sampling & sequencing within the Atari? What can I do with this thing that isn't just cubase midi!

thanks

You could do a lot worse than Breakthru 2 by Gajits.

You get quite a nice 'diamond drag' interface (which is fairly straightforward), which you can load 8 bit samples into and trigger up to 4 polyphony from a standard ST/e. If you get a Replay 16, you can even do 16bit samples. :D

As mentioned you could try Breakthru, or indeed Sequencer One which was Breakthru's predecessor. Other than that, you could try one of the many "digi trackers" which may support MIDI, like MaxYMiser. Those being trackers utilising samples, as opposed to "chip trackers", those utilising the ST's YM2149. Other than that, there is also EPSS which adds onto Cubase, allowing the use of samples.

1. Digi trackers: https://dhs.nu/files.php?t=digieditor
2. For good measure, chip trackers: https://dhs.nu/files.php?t=chipeditor
3. EPSS: https://epss.copson.se/
4. Breakthru: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... ru#p284729
5. MaxYMiser: http://www.preromanbritain.com/maxymiser/

Apologies, I don't have a link for Breakthru V2. I'll see if I can sort that out at some point.

No needto be sorry. :D

I was just a bit shocked at not actually being able to find it after quite a good search online.

I actually have the original disks stored away somewhere, but the last time I used them, they were failing to read.

I managed to install it on the TT after some effort, but it does crash. Not sure if its either a bad install or the TT is saying no thankyou.

The Audio sculpture tracker has some midi functionality too and can also capture sounds from any connected Sound sampler cart

Thanks. :)

I also have a VHS video tutorial for it.

Theres a nice little SVHS deck in the house somewhere too, but finding it, a good video lead and a PC capture card are a job for another (distant) day!
