I have planned to image the different chips from the Megadrive/Genesis system, including the ones found in games.
First chip imaged is 315-5709 and images are available here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4dvga2jt19rg ... 25UOa?dl=0
This is the SSF2 mapper, not the most useful chip but that's a start.
Unfortunately I am not able to use software I have for automatic netlist extraction because that would require SEM images and these
are tricky to produce for old chips like this one. The lack of planarization makes deprocessing a bit harder and optical images are
easier to produce. Still, the chip can definitely be reverse engineered from the images.
I thought some of you might be interested in working on this so I have decided to publish the images.
Have fun!
Imaging the Genesis chips
Re: Imaging the Genesis chips
I think the most interesting would be the 315-5364. Precise bus timings are still not well-known.
