Special/Interesting controllers for MiSTer
Re: Special/Interesting controllers for MiSTer
I've just finished making the JogCon USB adapter, I thought I'd make this graphic in case anyone else wanted confirmation of the wiring on an ItsyBitsy 32u4.

Could you do the same with this controller? :mmmonkey wrote:I've just finished making the JogCon USB adapter, I thought I'd make this graphic in case anyone else wanted confirmation of the wiring on an ItsyBitsy 32u4.

Re: Special/Interesting controllers for MiSTer
This old controller was originally made to be connected in place of a PC keyboard (DIN) and then provide a pass-through to chain the keyboard. It was used at the time when the keyboard interface was the primary choice for playing games. It emulated keypresses and you could assign single or multiple key strokes to the buttons. I often used its macro capabilities to speed up repetitive tasks.
So, I removed the old PC keyboard interface and replaced it with a 0-delay USB board. Works great! Its base is very heavy and stable. Joystick and buttons are clicky and responsive.

Speaking of keyboard control, there is a function in MiSTer to map gamepad/joystick buttons to keyboard keys.
It works great with DOS games, the only downside is that the settings aren't saved so you have to re-enter everything for each gaming session.

I wonder why that is. It is also a very handy way to start ROMs in cores that need something like ctrl-F11 to do that.Newsdee wrote:Speaking of keyboard control, there is a function in MiSTer to map gamepad/joystick buttons to keyboard keys.

Re: Special/Interesting controllers for MiSTer
Because core doesn't know which game is running, and different games may need different keys.
It's just an "emergency" option when you want to play some game which doesn't support joystick, or used buttons aren't convenient.
But it's offtopic here!

Hi
Has anyone investigated the Samco Arduino based DIY light gun? It looks really interesting - https://youtu.be/ygBHzShNIPg
There’s other mods for the guncon series of guns which allow you to fit an arcade micro switch to the gun to improve the feel of it.

If the controller is supported, then the wiring would be the same. I think Sorgelig mentioned some disadvantages to this controller earlier on in the thread so I’m not sure if it’s supported or not.danytyler wrote:Could you do the same with this controller? :

it's basically clone of negCon. I have it. Hard to find the usage scenario of it. The wheel has very narrow angle like +-20 degree.
I suggest JogCon instead.
