linking asm and hi soft basic

according to the manual
linking using the declare..cdecl statement is possible.
(pg 374) hisoft basic technical reference

however whenever I try it remains unaccomplishable
im only wanting to link , not write a library.

can someone provide more detailed description
or an example

I feel I need to make a ".o" file and then this cdecl includes as a sub routine .......????
