Using software to make own product?

Hi,

I am new here and I had a question.

Since MiSTer is open source, can anyone use the software and sell their own product or do we pay? I am open to pay royalty, donation or whatever it takes, I just need to know.

I am interested in making a portable version of MiSTer.
