Steem 3.9.3 Strange Mouse Behavior

Post by TheNameOfTheGame »

My mouse is going wonky in this new Steem release. All jittery moving in opposite directions like it's drunk lol in the emulation window. Works fine on 3.8.0.

Hi, sorry about that but "it works for me". Is it with(out) SSE options 'C1', 'Capture mouse', 'VM-friendly mouse'?
Is the ST accelerated?
Maybe you could post content of trace.txt?
In what Steem version does it start acting like this?
In the CIA we learned that ST ruled

Happens to me also but only in Monochrome/High Resolution modes with SSE 3.9.3 using STF/Mega STF with 1.04 UK TOS and STE with 1.62 UK TOS. The cursor always jitters and even moves to the opposite direction of the mouse for brief moments especially when fast moving the mouse. When the mouse movement is very slow and smooth then the cursor behaves better.

When C1 option left unchecked though, the behavior improves dramatically, no more jumps, jitters or opposite movements, but another problem surfaces: the movement, lags behind. Especially when I do fast circles with the cursor, it can lag behind for 2 circles. (When I already stopped the actual mouse on my hand, the ST cursor still has to do 2 more circles so it moves by it's own).

All of the above doesn't happen at Low resolution color mode. Didn't try Medium resolution yet.

I had this, and after lots of troubleshooting it turned out to be linked with the screensharing app I was using (Synergy)

Thx, bug confirmed when C1 is checked in high resolution. Not the lag without C1.
A quick fix is to change mouse speed in joystick options or disable pointer acceleration in your control panel.
I will fix that (wrong parameter) but note that on the ST, you can reproduce this by moving your mouse very fast.

But I could reproduce the behaviour without this.

Thanks! Sorry I didn't get back to this thread. I went back to using 3.8.0 again and I forgot about it.

Yes, I was using HIgh resolution also. As you say, if the mouse speed in Steem is set to minimum, the problem is gone, but then the mouse is way too slow.

I'm glad the problem is reproducible, I'd love to keep using the new version!

Don't worry about that, I blame myself for testing so little.
I plan to release corrections soon.

Hi, yes of course, normally the current dev builds include the correction.
