MSX core
Re: MSX core
I have no problem with the new release and vhd.
Anyway some tape games like SIRFRED still can't load.

Re: MSX core
Yes, there are some games that not run well, sprites collision problems, like Temptations, Perez the mouse...Glaurung wrote:
The ROM games about 99% wotks well. BUT A LOT of tape games and dsk FILES doesnt RUN at all.
Sometimes the same game doesnt run in dsk or tape, and run in ROM file.Strange.
I dont know if its mister fault or the OCM MSX FPGA that mister is based, that doesnt run this tape games.
Playing Golvellius2 in MSX2+ right know, GREAT GAME and exactly the same gameplay as original cartadige.
Or dsk games that not load...

Re: MSX core
First thing thank for the great work that is being done with this core.
I have observed that at least since the last version, the core do not boot the disk image if you just left another core and it does not matter if the "reset after mount option" is yes. Booting is only possible by re-selecting the disk image or making a hard reset.

Re: MSX core
I had the same problem but sorgelig was not able to reproduce it on his setup (see page 3 of this thread). The solution that worked for me was to rename the VHD file to msx.vhd and move it to the root folder of the SDHC card.the80scomputers wrote:I have observed that at least since the last version, the core do not boot the disk image if you just left another core and it does not matter if the "reset after mount option" is yes. Re: MSX core
It may be a solution but I think it is not the right one.
The bug is simple to reproduce. If you load the core just after switching on it will not play, however, if you first load any other core and pass from this to MSX it will.

Re: MSX core
This core supports load from audio input?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: MSX core
There isn't any mention on the Wiki about the MSX supporting the ADC.petraka wrote:This core supports load from audio input?

Re: MSX core
Does anyone know the optimal settings for using this core? I see many options for processors and expansion cards, and it's difficult to know where to begin.
Re: MSX core
My settings are:
CPU speed normal
CPU type z80
Slots empty
Mapper 2048 kb

It's a port of MSX OCS FPGA, i thinks is updated now.woollybully wrote:Does anyone know the optimal settings for using this core? I see many options for processors and expansion cards, and it's difficult to know where to begin.
It works good without any specific setting.
If you play some advanced games like Golvellius2, o Metal Gear2, its better to switch to MSX2+, in f12 menu.
99% games work well with msx2 config (by default).
.rom files runs ok 99%
.dsk and .cas files run ok 50%
Anyway, mister MSX is much better gameplay than openmsx or other emulators.
Re: MSX core
Try this command before load a game:
SETSMART -F9FC (system reboots automatically)
Solve most of compatibility issues related to msx2 compatibility and mappers.

Re: MSX core
Can do this on Autoexec.bas? Or will generate a loop? What that command does?petraka wrote:Try this command before load a game:

I want sofarun runing dsk with that command...

Code: Select all
_SYSTEM("A:\UTILS\SETSMART.COM -F9FC")
Here is some more information about the _SYSTEM command in BASIC:

Re: MSX core
Seems that load casssete through audio input improves compatibility with msx2.
This feature is going to be included in mist soon.

Just copy sofarun files from website in a "sofarun" folder in your msx vhd.
From msxdos enter sofarun folder,Type sofarun and thats all.
MSX core / how to test FM PCM Player ?
Hi,
I know quite nothing on the MSX... except I always dreamed to get a real one...
Recently, FM PCM Player was released for the MSX (http://www.grauw.nl/projects/fmpcm/) and I'd like to test it on the MSX core but it looks a little complicated. I understood I need to find/create a VHD image but no clue how to do that (I don't have the I/O board)
It says :
Thanks

It has link to a VHD image that you can use.
Re: MSX core
Hi.
Some games that work correctly with the release of core 20180520 do not work with the latest release 20190928 such as Maziacs or Livingstone Supongo. In those games it is as if the space key is pressed continuously.
Thx.

Re: MSX core
This core doesn't yet support saving to tape/cassette, does it? Too bad Metal Gear needs this to save (there is a rom that can save to disk, but that is hack, only in English and not the original Japanese).
Re: MSX core
It's possible to connect to internet (BBS) ???
With an original MSX is possible with a cartadige that has a LAN port.Mister has a LAN port as well.
I'm trying using TCPIP pile, INL (internet Nestor Lite+ ramnhelpr ,but doenst work. "No ethernet UNAPI implementation found"
https://www.konamiman.com/msx/msx-s.html#inl2
However, when i use the command TIME from MSX-DOS its responds ok the internet clock, because my mister is connected to internet. So msx-mister has acces to intenet in some way.
