Wiki WYSIWYG add-in for PC word processors

Post by wongck »

Following Add-in allows you to use Microsoft Word to edit an wiki page offline.
You use the normal Word bold, italic and tables features to create the Word document.

When done just choose File –> Save As and select MediaWiki* under file types.
Word will now convert and save the document in Wiki style markup.

You then just paste the contents onto the wiki editor box.

Hopefully with this, it make creating pages on the wiki easier.

I know some guys don't have MS Word at home.... like me
So here is the Open Office equivalent.... it's build-in !!!

On OpenOffice.org 2.3 has an Export to MediaWiki functionality.
Its simply, a File -> Export, give it a filename, and select MediaWiki.
Automatically, you have a .txt file, that you can paste directly into MediaWiki.

This is very handy... How does it cope with embedded images?
STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

I haven't try any images with it yet.
I can't access the wiki now but will try later at home.

I created a wiki page with 2 photos in Word and converted it (at work  ).
Uploaded the photos and wiki page at home and it is working.
Only thing was the image anchor for file name & alt-text seems to be swap by the converter .
So have to manually correct it

Look for "Wongck test" to see the results.
