New visitor? Your first three posts need to be approved

Post by Mug UK »

We've been suffering from spambots (and genuine people thinking we'd allow adverts for their dodgy stuff) so when the board was upgraded to the latest version, a new tool was installed.

If you're a new visitor to this forum, your first three posts will need to be approved. This may be a pain to yourself but it's usefulness to the admin & moderators far outweighs your first three posts :)

We hope this doesn't put you off and you'll find this forum a friendly place to have a banter about the Atari range of 16 & 32 bit machines.
Main site: www.mug-uk.co.uk - digging up bits from my past: Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (ripping guides). I host a C64 Radio Show for a mate, Max Hall via www.chipsidshow.co.uk

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in for Word 2007 upwards. A toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: mikestoolbox.co.uk

not a good way.

Just joined, I have just recently had my Atari addiction refreshes and am trying to get all my old Ataris going again these range from 800 Xl's to ST's and STFM's, what I am finding with the disks on the ST's is the drives are finding it hard to spin up the disks them selves , has any one ever split the disk so that they can free up the media inside, as I think some of the magnetic surface has a white powder growing on them and was going to try and clean this of to see if it helped, strange thing is all the disk that are on the 8 bit 51/4 system are fine and it seems to have only happend to the ST media.

This is my first post here! I'm very happy to be here with you! When I was young I loved Atari ST and I was a huge fan of all Atari computers! Although I was an AtariST user for years, I lack in some knowledge, which I hope to gain in this forum with the valuable help of all of you.

Sorry I missed this topic!

I just posted a new thread asking for some help with an article I am writing for Retro Gamer magazine and wondered why it didn't post.

Hello to all.

I signed up a few days ago and started posting righ away, but was wondering that none of my posts appeared.

But after reading about the "3 posts rule" I started to understand.

OK, let´s wait for getting a "full" member of this board soon....

:)

Hi from Glasgow!

hi all

Im a retrogamer, it started with emulation, and then getting a jamma setup to play the games i loved 'arcade perfect' as a kid. As some boards arrived or became faulty, and the prices started going up, I branched out from collecting into repairing too.

I've pretty much reached a point where I've got all the games I wanted, and the rest are crazy expensive, so for novelty value I decided to return to some of the games I loved on home systems.

So I dusted off my 1040STE and hooked it up to the Jamma cab. Proper arcade joysticks certainly beat the old quickshot 2 turbo  As I'm a bit of a tinkerer I started looking into upgrades, done the 4mb simm upgrade already, now looking mainly for a HDD addon - this zeus68k thing looks intriguing.

So expect a few annoying questions, but Ill use the search function 1st I promise.

Well, here's my first post!

Greetings, all! I have a couple of ST's and love them both. I'm currently in the market for an STE of some sort, so I'm off to the trading forum.

Best to all!

Ah. Just figured out why my first 2 posts weren't showing up!

Well, I'm not a bot. I'm a fat, 46-year-old who got into modular synthesizers about a year ago and has up-ended his entire Apple Logic-based, in-the-box studio in order to recreate one around an Atari ST and samplers.

I had to sell my 520 STe back in 1991 to pay Maggie Thatcher's brand new Poll Tax. It broke my heart and I have missed it ever since. So last week, I scored a 520 STe which I have since upgraded to 4 MB + VGA flat screen! Better late than never, eh?

Next thing is to buy some kind of hard drive for it. No idea about those, but I'm sure I;ll find out everything I need to know around here!

Cheers guys,
Dripfeed

Hi to all. I have a 520STFM which has been mothballed for some years but have now started using it again. Searching for current Atari information has led me to this excellent site. There is a lot for me to catch-up on - new data storage options, monitors, processor upgrades etc, so will look forward to exploring this site more thoroughly and seeing what I have been missing all this time.
