How to create instruments with YM ?

Hello,

I started reading how the YM2149 works.
Are there some ressources to understand how to create cool sounds, I am particularly interested in generating drum rhythms ?

For exemple tutorials... Or sound editors where I could examine the output... Well, whatever can help me doing it.
(I own STE and TT)
