Hi, everyone. After a 30 year hiatus (and now being an empty nester), I decided to get into music recording again. I recently purchased the PreSonus STUDIO 1824c and Studio One software. I would like to migrate my old Notator MIDI files to Studio One, if possible.
I pulled out my Atari MEGA ST2, MEGAFILE 30 and SC1224 hardware and, surprisingly, it still works! However, when I launch Notator, it freezes just when it's about finished loading. I checked and cleaned the pins where the dongle connects but it didn't resolve. The only thing I can think of is maybe my dongle has gone bad? I have Notator 2.1 and 2.2, and both do the same thing, so I do not believe it is the disks. Also, it freezes when launched from the hard disk.
Is there a 'cracked' version of Notator 2.2 out there somewhere, or maybe just a way to circumvent the dongle? I just want to migrate my music to Studio One. Once I accomplish that, I no longer need the Atari MEGA ST2 since I used it solely for music.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Clean cartridge port and cartridge/dongle with isopropanol (IPA) and try again. Bad connection is a very common problem.

Provided you have not put the dongle in upside down, it most probably is a contact issue. Make sure you also clean the ROM port contacts of your Atari Mega ST.
