Box scans (and extra info) to be added to Atari Legend

Post by Mug UK »

This is a new thread where I will (attempt to) keep my eye on the Submissions made to the Atari Legend database. This can be bits of information, cheat codes and, most importantly, gap fillers in the box scans (front and back) for all entries in the database.

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in for Word 2007 upwards. A toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: mikestoolbox.co.uk

Good idea :)
I've just uploaded scans for Rugby: The World Cup. I also only just realised today that you do have scans for disks etc so I'll get around to adding some scans for contents at some point soon.

Signed up and added box scans for a few that were missing:

Chaos Engine (A slightly more tidy box scan)
Graffiti Man
Hacker
Knightmare
Lure of the Temptress
Pandora
Roller Coaster Rumbler
Treasure Island Dizzy
Turbo GT

There's no entry in the DB for The Magnetic Scrolls Collection. I can provide scans for that too, if it's added.

Will start going through and uploading them.

We're having an issue with compilation disks (from what I remember) so hold fire on that box art for Magnetic Scrolls for the mo.

Downloaded them (and marked your submissions as 'reviewed'). I'll upload as many as I can tonight.

I've also found that Mikerochip has been uploading behemoth sized scans (1200dpi) on archive.org, so they will all need resizing first. I.e. one front cover was 35Mb :)

Cheers both. All of images are downloaded and ready to upload, so thanks to you both.

However, whilst trying to upload some of the images (Hacker, Knightmare) it tripped an oddity in the AL image uploading, so it's on hold for the mo. The back scans uploaded, but the fronts didn't. It's being investigated and as soon as a fix is found, I'll continue with the uploads.

Belgarath - your scans are uploaded.

They are a lot smaller than the ones that Total Eclipse has submitted, so I've added to the GitHub log that yours uploaded fine, but not many of Total Eclipse's ones did.

After some resizing in Paint.NET, all of the Total Eclipse scans are now uploaded too. Can you take a look at your Treasure Island Dizzy one though as it's looks more magenta than red?

I've no idea what's happened there. The scan for Pandora looks similar. I'll get them rescanned and re-uploaded.

I thinks it's because when I did the original scans (to include in my submissions for the Floppy Disk Stream Image Repository), I scanned the sleeves in one go. They're very slightly longer than the scanner bed, so I guess they allowed a small amount of light onto the scanner, which then messed up the colour grading?

Anyway, I've re-scanned Treasure Island Dizzy and Pandora accurately and submitted them again. They're still 600dpi scans, so you'll possibly have to resize them.

No worries. Thanks for redoing them and they are now uploaded. (Had to shrink by 80% to get under the max. limit of filesize).

Who likes small covers??? We need something with a little detail!!!

I've only done a few :P

The internal box for the 520STE came out quite nice.

I'm away this weekend and suffering free hotspot WiFi speeds. When you're used to 1Gbit Virgin Media speeds, this Starbucks WiFi feels like I'm wading through mud. I'll get these uploaded once I'm back home.

Maybe i can add some german boxes. But i have to compare AL with my scans first which may take some time. Too many ideas at the same time  . What else is of interest? Media-scans, posters?

BTW, is there a place for application manuals or books?

Any help is appreciated. Let me know where I can download the missing images in bulk (e.g. Dropbox or Mega or similar). If you want "kudos" points on AL, you can submit them that way, but it's one submission per missing cover and a bit slow.

Manuals are usually put onto Archive.org but in your own account as there's (as far as I know) no concentrated single group where all manuals can be found. It's a pain, but there's a lot already out there - in varying states of quality.
