Redirecting Falcon audio output

Post by dbsys »

Hello, is any one here aware of AUTO folder or ACC software that will take the audio stream going to the audio/headphone output of a Falcon and automatically redirects or doublicates it to the DSP port?

The purpose of this is to bypass the internal Falcon DAC and use a S/DIF interface connected to the DSP port and an external DAC.

I know Cubase Audio, Audiomaster, Studio Son are able to output audio streams through DSP. But my goal is to use any other audio software that does not have that functionality built into its code.

Thanks!

Guess you are not asking about a player persay, those are hit an miss if they use the DSP.
I've used the FDI to listen to audio. Haven't tried to see if FDI input is monitored and output simatainous.
Matrix configures this.

Exacly, the matrix configures this.
And with every program that sets it you lose your setup done by your auto-folder program.

Now,
The OUT has a matrix input AND is mixed this with another input.
The EXO has a matrix input.
(exO (EXternal Out) is the DSP port / S/DIF interface connection you want)

You can set the matrix-to-EXO the same as the matrix-to-OUT.

But you always mis the "another input" that has a direct connection bypassing the matrix.
This input is selectable, 1:yamaha soundchip or 2:mic

But the input of this bypass is also hung on the matrix!
So the matrix_to_EXO can be set to this.
...but you lose the other matrix connection.

Clarify example:

On the OUT yamaha_sound & dma_sound can be heard simultanious. (dma_sound via matrix , yamaha_sound via the bypass.)
(where the mouse is in the picture)

The EXO however can only get 1 of the 2 from the matrix, the other is missing.

fsnd.zip > a falcon sound cpx

In this CPX "sound extension" you can see how that works.
The little corner downleft the matrix is the bypass (INP > OUT)
(see mouse)
Under the matrix are the outputs, OUT, EXO, DSP, REC.

EXO is your SDIF / DSP_port
OUT is the Falcon audio output
DSP is not an external out but also a matrix output and this one goes to the dsp.
REC is DMA recording, like HD recording, matrix_to_dma.
And don't forget to click the arrow just above it to enable the connection.

The yellow info popup can be switched off, when you don't want the pushing information...

Just start a yamaha sound (keyclick also works) and a mod-tracker and play with the sliders and settings.
It's fun to play... and you get how the matrix works.

@Tommo thank you very much for this software as I am having issues with my Falcon. Your software might be extremely useful in the sound matrix diagnostics of the Falcon together with oscilloscope. ):
