Ok, I'll see what happens.

This motherboard is a $%&@£ to recap. I hope I didn't break it. Those negatives, I don't know how you guys take them out -_-

Just remembered, the medium sized 470uf cap right next to the modulator is incorrectly marked on the motherboard, you will want to install it in the opposite polarity (otherwise the cap will start bulging/leaking after a few weeks)

What ?!?!? I checked that all caps where coherent with motherboard markings. They were. It means it's been inverted all along ? It's used only for rf maybe ?

Yes it has been inverted all along, we discovered this a couple of years ago. Because people started re-capping their Falcons, that particular cap kept bulging after it had been replaced. After some investigation we found Atari had it installed backwards on all Falcons and also on STes. It is just that the Wangcap doesn't show any bulge or anything, it's just dead, so nobody noticed.

Oh god.
Thank you for the warning !

Well to the chopping board I go back...

If this falcon still lives I'll be very happy !

Pheeeew, it still works.

Well I'm postponing for some time doing this on the other one !
My heart rate must go back to normal before.

I got really worried cause I burnt a bit the board trying to remove the "-" of some caps, mainly under the psu where 3 4.7 ones reach the same place, and the one under the rf module where the "flying" cap bridges the one one the mb and the module.
So was scared the new joint would be too bad. Seems ok.

For one under the psu I gave up and cut the leg, soldered on it.

The desoldering gun was useless for most negative points.

Well let's hope it lasts 30 years ^^ sadly it didn't solve my problem.

Instead of 470/35 and 220/16, he sent me 470/25 and 220/10.
Only C6, C11 (4u7), C67 (47u), C110 and C36 (100uF) are on 12V rail, so these have to be rated at least 16V. Anything else would be sufficient if rated as low as 6.3V. Yet here are other reasons for different voltage ratings used in the set: availability and required cap package size - these are main limiting factors nowadays.

I understand.

I was a bit worried with the complexity of the task, seeing inferior values raised an alert :D sorry still a noob. (But a noob who installed an nvram and recapped his falcon now ! :D)

It's all working fine, did a few loops of gembench, played abbaye des morts, did some large copies on the CF card and played some MP3.

Btw I ordered two kits (not exactlyat the same time), after inventory I'm missing 1 47u/16v, 2 10u/50v, and one 1u/50v. I have 2 3.3u/100v too many and 1 100u/16v too many :D

In fact, there are two main mainboard revisions and they sadly differ in capacitors. I am no longer sure witch one to sell :( So I have listened to wrong prophets (mikro!) and this is the result. Anyway, PM me with your order number and I will send you missing caps.

Oh no no, mikro was the right prophet here ;-) I was missing one 47uF, one 4.7uF (got two 3.3uF instead) and one 10uF.

So you see, my request was very close to his. :)

You need to use Flux to disolder the old caps, and flux again when you solder the new ones ! Without it can be a serious pain.....

Oh I put so much flux. But when solder stayed in the "-", no amount of flux, fresh solder and praying helped :D
Well in the end I did it. But I seriously spent like hours on 2 holes !

Yeah I understand. I'll send you the info by PM. Thanks a lot ! For what it's worth, this list by @dhedberg was the right one for my two falcons (CA401332-003 PAL-B). I just found a third one, will check the mother board revision too. I'll order a third kit :D (and a third clock patch, a third NVRAM...)

Yeah I know what you mean, it just means that your soldering iron cannot provide heat energy fast enough to compensate for how fast the motherboards ground is eating it. All you can do is get a better soldering iron, there are reviews on youtube where they show this effect.

I used a basic desoldering gun. That seemed to work for GadgetUK64 in his CT60 videos :D
Added fresh solder every time. Most holes cleaned well, but 3-4 of them were hell.
Anyway have another falcon to recap soon, fingers crossed I'll be more efficient.
I mean, less than 12 hours would be nice :D

you need a soldering station. I have one that i used when i did my own Falcon 030.
