Wiki *was* set to Read Only... now back to normal

yeah, Just wanted to help the community.

Just added a few pages of stuff, correcting some user's contributions (in terms of formatting) as they did not follow some of the wiki formatting and some major alterations on the layout. Dotted some pictures here and there to make it livelier.

Majority of the pages have not changed, especially the games, demo section.
I am more of a OS guy, so the OS part may have changed. Since I am one who changed them, so there is no problem of merging stuff on OS.

If there's anything you want from those Floppyshop / ST Club CDs for the Wiki, I'll put them up. Never had the time to go through them.

I did see some DIY hardware stuff but it's probably the same tutorials as already exist.

I think I should wait for the recovery of the old wiki and hammer in those missing pages/images from May 2009 till Apr 2011 before I go update the current wiki, else there will be more differences to verify & check.
Let me know when the backups are restored for comparisons.

We can systematically do this by
1. marking the pages that are in SS version with the current wiki.
2. after a review, we delete those marked pages.
3. merge the remaining pages.

There are only 838 articles in the current wiki, if one check 10 pages a day, that takes 3 months. If 2-3 person work on, it will take 1 month.

Gosh. I guess I am more than half way through now.
And it's not a month.

Anyone else having a crack at this?

I've only done my HxC article so far (split it into 2 as per catmando's suggestion last year)

Been busy working on other things. I think RetroGamerUK was going to look at some bits - certainly his walkthroughs.

Well, the games sections is all that is left to do now.

The rest only took 4 days I saw in the oldwiki log, I could compare a page in 20 secs
If that's true then I could have compared 150 pages or so in an hour.
I have seen very little changes since the last backup and that's the reason why it can be compared relatively faster than I anticipated.
You can see the changes in the wiki logs, mostly pictures rather than text.

All oldwiki text compared and some text are updated into the new Wiki.

I started with the missing images as in the gallery of images special pages.
I did until Shredder, where I had to stop, will continue later in the day.

Please go over the old wiki to check if I missed any pages out.

Still some missing (like 3 only) and those are not in the old wiki.

As far as I can tell, I visited all the pages in the old wiki.... but there may be some I missed out.
I just found 2 pages that I missed out and compared them just minutes ago.
Keep it on for another week.... I will do some random checks for missed pages.

I just managed to find 45 pages that was missed out.
But I have checked them all now but I did not bother to marked them as transferred.
I am sure all pages are checked now, don't need a week.

As Pooh says.... "I think..." you can take the old wiki offline.
