Issues running a game on HATARI - Linux Mint

Post by MDK007 »

Hello retro gamers,

I hope I can ask for some help with the emulation of Hatari on Linux Mint.
I can play games, but one game I can't get to work.
Lotus Challenge Turbo II
At a certain point the game stops loading and nothing happens anymore.
Does anybody have an idea why it stops suddenly and how to solve the issue?

PS. when trying to launch it on windows via STEEM emulator the rom works.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Try using TOS 1.04, 1MB memory and STFM configuration That should be compatible.

The original game works on my 1040STFM with that and should with Hatari.

Thanks a lot for the advice!

It's running :-)!

Ps, small question, is 1.04 most stable version of TOS or how did you know to use this one?

It is the most recent official TOS for STFM machines.
Stable is a matter of opinion, 1.02 is also said to be good.

Most common combinations for STFM games should be TOS 1.00, 1.02 or 1.04 and 512K or 1MB memory, covering all 520STFM and 1040STFM ever sold.
A few early games don't like newer TOS and some choke on 4MB memory configurations.

STE is also sometimes a matter of compatibility.

Small question on running 2 disc games.
I'm trying to run Wonderboy in Monsterland, but it keeps on hanging on the first disc and doesn't go to the 2nd one it seems?
Any idea?

As only few people had two floppy drives, many/most games don't support disk drive B, they expect user to change disk in the drive A. After you change the disk in the drive A, many games detect disk being changed and continue automatically though, without user needing also to e.g. press space or joystick fire.

In Hatari you get the floppy image selection dialog with AltGr+D shortcut.
