Pkunzip doesn't work with 64bit OS

Post by Zenichiro »

Pkunzip doesn't work with 64 bit versions of Windows. Is there any 'drop in' alternative? I tried a couple of command line unzip programs but the arguments were different format - also Pkware doesn't seem to offer their command line prog for download any more.

Any suggestions?

Yep, always use WinRAR as you can specify .RAR or .ZIP for the file archive.
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

I think I need to be more specific - The Steem32.txt Gemus script fails on Vista64 because of the following section -

Code: Select all

If Key_Harddisk CONTAINS(Yes)
		Set_INI_Value(%dbpath%\GBSTeem.ini||HardDrives||Drive_0_Letter||C)
		Set_INI_Value(%dbpath%\GBSTeem.ini||HardDrives||Drive_0_Path||%gamepath%\Harddisk)
		Set_INI_Value(%dbpath%\GBSTeem.ini||HardDrives||BootDrive||2)

		Run_Program(%dbpath%\pkunzip.exe||-d %gamepath%\harddisk.zip %gamepath%\Harddisk||wait)
	Else
I've tried manually changing the pkunzip reference to various other command line decompressors and changing the arguments but I don't seem to be having any luck.

Can anyone tell me what the proper line would be using unrar.exe?

pkunzip -d = unrar x

Code: Select all

Run_Program(%dbpath%\unrar.exe||x %gamepath%\harddisk.zip %gamepath%\Harddisk||wait)

Had tried all these, just dropping them in without changing the command/argument format, obviously they didn't work. I just remember ages ago that some unzip programs used to use the same format. Was just being lazy! :oops:

Anyway, further investigation seems to show that the command line unrar program won't decompress zip files only rar files, at least that's what it tells me.

Also, for anyone who's interested the code for 7za and unzip are as follows:

Code: Select all

Run_Program(%dbpath%\7za.exe||x %gamepath%\harddisk.zip -o%gamepath%\Harddisk||wait)

Run_Program(%dbpath%\unzip.exe||%gamepath%\harddisk.zip -d%gamepath%\Harddisk||wait)
Maybe one of these could be substituted for pkunzip in a future GBST release?

7ZIP always worked for me, although I have just skipped the posts.
