Up to 6 players in Megaparty mode. Supports 4 player adapter, Jagpad-Controllers and MIDI-connecting two machines.
Great party fun!

Midimaze II ( my biggest session until now was with a 12 ST ring)

Ahh..thats a shame Thomas. I think I have an Amiga one, but not for the Atari. Could have done all 6 players with that and one more jagpad!

Must be thing that might be the first that many people had a encounter with a actually fun playable local multiplayer game of that sort.
Do remember rigging up all my Atari:s at the time when my gf and her pal came over so could test it,we had quite a fun time gaming

Yes, there is also a V3, I tryed it but I prefer the V2.

Since you are such an expert on the game... what is the difference between V1/V2/V3? I've watched a few YT videos, to me they look all the same -- same 3D maze, same graphics, I think V2 had some (creepy ;)) samples (wasn't one of them later used in Running, the falcon game?) but apart from that?

V2 has a lot of funny weapons which you can buy from your points. And there is patched version of V2 which runs nice on TT and Falcon, inclusive STE-Sound and DSP-Modplayer-support. See https://midimaze.de/

I had not a deep look into V3 as it gave me the impression as not being ready.

In regards of the differences between MM1 and MM2, I am kind of an expert and can probably any question, if you have any.

In regards of a stable multi-player setup: MM1 will not work, because of a timeout bug. I can release a fix, if needed, but in the past the MIDI ring failed at random times. I have a complete list of bugs with exist in MM1. The MIDI timeout being the single most important one.

MM2 has these bugs fixed plus a bunch of more playing features (doors, buying and selling certain features, etc), which significantly increases the "fun factor" for long term playability. Because of these features the drones have been removed – they could not deal with doors, etc. MM2 was played on all kind of Atari ST machines in rings of up to 16 players for days. If the hardware is stable, the game is.

I have the release of the source code of MM1 and MM2 on my long-term to-do list, I just haven't been able to wrap it up...

Just a question: Can 'standard' MIDI leads be used for this game, or do you need the slightly different ST ones? (IIRC ST MIDI had thru on an unused pin?)

Yes, standard MIDI leads are OK. The THRU is not used in the game.

@sarnau: thanks for all the information! I should give it a try someday, just recently I linked my MegaSTE + Falcon + STE with MIDI cables and only could think of Substation as a test.

Btw you should promote your Atari activities more, your github contains a lot of interesting information!

I remember trying to get my friends to play Winglord, but no one liked it. Shame! I thought it was a fantastic Joust clone.
And, I think I had a bomberman clone, from one of the magazines, but was annoyed (at the time) to find it was one player
I think it was pretty good though.

Games we didn't play often:
Hotshot,
Microprose Soccer,
Kamikaze,
Street Fighter II.

I think, we played alternating on:
Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker (this, and pool were amazing)
Archer McLeans Pool,
Bombjack,
Chuckie Egg,

There may have been a few more that we alternated on.

I always wanted to play Flight of the Intruder, and F-16 with 2 machines, but, never knew anyone else with either game!

Nitro (up to 3 players and fantastic fun. The ST version differed from the amiga (which scrolled sideways at points) by adding pedestrians)
Chaos - The Battle of the Wizards (Easily the best multi-player game on the speccy, converted and (I think) improved on the ST (aliens!))

My mates and I spent ages playing those two games, particularly Chaos.

Yes Chaos for sure - is this the one that had all the samples from Monty Python, Red Dwarf, Ghostbusters etc
