Fantastic achievement! Even with a 2021 perspective on what the STE is capable of, this looks so so good :)

Thanks for the great effort!

I'd like to raise 2 questions, though:

1) would it be possible to take visual advantage of ST/Mega ST having blitter, too (not only STE/Falcon)? E.g. there's such version of scrolled Giana.
2) is there a chance for "full" Amiga-like version that would incorporate great intro and in-game MODs too?

Thanks :)

Thank you! To answer your questions:

1) The game already supports ST/Mega ST with Blitter. The only differences are that the DMA sound effects will not be present, the sky gradient will feature less colours and the road/ground colours will be a little less refined;
2) Possibly, but not on the 8MHz STE. It could conceivably be done on 16MHz Mega STE or Falcon. It's something we may look into in future.

I'd say a video comparing the two versions (STE vs ST) would be really nice and would attract more downloads.

Funny you should say that :)

Sadly I don't think YouTube embeds are working on Atari-Forum at the moment so the URL will have to do:

Wow, watching the comparison video really shows how much improved the enhanced version is.

And how close to the Amiga version, I'd say, at least on the graphics.

Framerate and sound, as well road and sky details are much better!
The inner mastery...

Low Cost Hard Disk for Atari ST/E (now it reaches 650 KB/s reading and 375 KB/s writing):

Wow, nice! That was a great game indeed, played it a lot on the Amiga (shame, shame ;) ) with my brother, but stopped when we found that, at equal position, when hitting the other player, it was always the same that was being slowed down or pushed aside :D

Nice video comparing the ST/STe, shows the improvement!

simonsunnyboy wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:17 am OMG, terrific stuff! And the first STE remake that

a) gets finished AND
b) stays true to the original.

This is the correct formula to use.

Is this harddisk installable in some way? I remember it was promised to run on Falcon aswell?
Just copy the files to a harddisk and run loader.prg with clean boot?
Hmmm. Pacmania Ste too ?
Pacmania STE stays not true to the ST original which makes it a separate game IMHO, not an enhancement.

The thread on the forum says the logic code comes from STf version.

https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... te#p226252
"The only thing I could use from the original ST version was the game logic, collision detection and the music player. The rest is rewritten from scratch."

Yes and thus not a true original anymore as you can tell a major difference while the Lotus port is clearly an enhancement but not a remake.

From what I understand the original version is the arcade (and the remake is closer from the arcade for sure)

Yes, my original comment meant "staying true to the ST original" if that is still unclear. Ofcourse it is closer to the Arcade but that is not the point as Lotus has no arcade version.
