The Gamebase ST Project

Post by Goldrunner »

Gamebase ST is a brand new database front-end for Atari ST games! The single goal of The Gamebase ST Project is to gather, collate, catalogue, and make avialable, the very best versions of all Atari ST games and other resources accross the Web.

Please visit http://www.gamebasest.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ for more information!

Please note that the first release is schedualed next weekend and so the link to download the database does not work!

Hi Gryzor

I would love a Logo for Gamebase ST, i'm not the greatest graphic artist in the world :( If you would like to do one then i will certainly add it to the homepage and the program itself, if it good enough which i'm sure it will be :D

Heya Paul -I was kind akidding, but of course I'll be glad to make one for such a nice project. We'll discuss the details in less than a week, when I'm back from the army... until then, keep it up!

Cheers

Lol, I'm a statistician and researcher by trade so I know a little programming to make programs like SAS go ( http://www.sas.com/technologies/analyti ... index.html ).

But I have no idea where to get started with real application development or cross-platform ports, I only got as far as Atari Basic. Maybe I'll take a year or two off someday and learn :)

But for now I'm happy keeping OS X, Windows, and Linux installed on my computers so I can try everything out. I really like that OS X is unix-based because a lot of programs developed for linux are easily ported over. Can't say the same thing about Win programs.

I'll help with testing and some debugging though if anyone wants to port something like this over :D

The good old Mac :!: A great machine which is certainly lasting the test of time and Microsoft, if only it had a bigger market share :(

I am looking for recruits fo The Gamebase ST Project, needed is a person or persions to gather manuals, solutions, tips, etc, from various disks (sewer disks for example) and other sources. It would also be great if they were also converted to txt.

Also looking for people to gather adverts, boxscans, maps, or other material for games.

If anyone wants to join the project and get credited in the program and on the website then please drop me a line, by email or through this thread!

Finally, if any kind sole wants to send me any material for games and not join the project then that great also! You will still be credited!

hi Paul, if you want boxscans then i have a few i made for Richard Davey of LGD for over 2 years ago... but he has not used them at LGD so you can take them if you want.

Richard wanted scans of front and back of the boxes and also credits info from the manual if there where any in it so that is what i scanned.
I think i scanned 90 games or so... i have over 300 so it's possible i will scan some more.

Hi Stefan

Many thanks for the boxscans, the quality is excellent and i will be using them in the Gamebase ST project. Please let me know your full name and i will add you to the credits as part of the GBST team!

If you could do more in the same format that would be great!

All the very best

Hey Stefan!

These scans look really beautiful! May we also use these add the next Atari Legend update when we implement a boxscan feature? I mean, we could again combine forces here!

here are more boxscans, perhaps i scanned in too high dpi (300)?
http://shozan.sytes.net/~meth/atarist/p ... xscans.zip

Paul and ST graveyard: in what DPI you like the scans in? 150 is perhaps enough?

btw: "space station oblivion" is the US name for Driller.

Stefan,

Thanks a lot! the DPI does not matter to me ... we will resize and compress the piccies ... We still have to think about this! I suggest making them in the best possible quality (within the boundaries of the kb size) is best!

Thanks, man!

Hi Stefan

Thanks again for the scans, they are all excellent quality :D Again it does not matter what DPI you use (the higher the better), as Grave said they can easily be resized and compressed!

Keep up the good work! With your help we get more Atari ST scans out there and stop using Amiga ones like some sites do!

All the very best.
