But that's a problem of the GEMDOS emulation in Hatari. It isn't prepared for multitasking systems. There is nothing MagiC can do about that until some decent filesystem interface is implemented in Hatari (like in Aranym for MiNT), and MiNT's hostfs.xfs driver is ported to magic (which i already tried, but miserably failed; the needed structures are just too different, and i couldn't really figure out who is responsible for freeing the internal structures of a *.xfs for magic. I either run out of memory, or descriptors, or both).

I seond that, I could not get new release to work on Hatari either.

Thorsten, sounds promising. I keep my finger crossed.

I'm not working on this driver currently. For aranym, i'm using betados currently; not quite the same since it does not support long filenames, but better than nothing.

ok, I also use BetaDOS under Aranym, maybe it could be adapted to the MagiC

another question:
How hard would be bring MagiC to non ST compatible 68000 hardware?

there is MagiCPC and MagiCMac - both have some Atari emulator integrated.

ok, but I don't mean the emulator, but a possibility to compile MagiC OS for other target platform with 68k processor, as it is done in the EmuTOS.

Maybe only ASH can tell, but i don't think they are the same. MagicPC is the only one with a JIT compiler.

And he was asking about MagiC, not an emulator.

To answer the question: It would be quite some work, but not impossible. Basically, you can take the kernel that is used for MagicMac (because it does not need to access any hardware), then take the parts from other kernels that can be reused.

Sounds promising.
Does https://github.com/th-otto/MagicMac/tree/master/kernel contains also that MagicMac kernel?

---EDIT---
ok I've found:

Yes. You should also take a look at https://github.com/th-otto/MagicMac/blo ... macxbios.s which is the startup routine. Compare that to the bios for other machines, and especially have a look at things like https://github.com/th-otto/MagicMac/blo ... os.s#L3225 : that MSysX structure is a communication area for the emulator, and all such functions simply call the callback routines that are filled in by the emulator when it loads the kernel. For other hardware, those have to be rewritten.

Edit: you don't have to care about the magicmac directory. That is for older (ppc/68k) based macs.

Has a new location been found for the binary downloads now that the bintray location is no longer available?

Does the sources to MagiCMilan exist? This version does not access the hardware directly, but use the underlying BIOS and VDI. I would assume the "easiest" way to get MagiC ported to other 68k platforms would be to adapt MagiCMilan to work with EmuTOS BIOS/VDI, and port EmuTOS to the platform in question.

Yes, it's part of the source tree of MagicMac: https://github.com/th-otto/MagicMac/tre ... bios/milan
