Announcing: uiptool FTP support (v287)

Post by sqward »

Hi all,
For improved visibility I've created a separate topic..

I've just made available a new version of uiptool with FTP support!
Please download new version(s) at:
https://bitbucket.org/sqward/uip-tools/downloads/

Documentation was also updated at:
https://bitbucket.org/sqward/uip-tools/src/master/

NOTE:
Make sure you're using PASSIVE connection mode.

Thanks! It's worth mentioning that it only works in passive mode - I was using the standard unix ftp client to connect and nothing worked :)

There's only binaries at the link above, and no obvious pointers to documentation. Anyway, I figured it out. Now I need to figure out why it throws errors when I attempt to connect with Nautilus.

In some clients regular FTP is considered obsolete and they default to SFTP.

Nautilus supports ftp. I get a "Error: no result string for the code: 211" when connecting with Nautilus. I see from the sources that this is not supported. Any chance of looking into supporting this? This would allow Ubuntu users to access the Atari disks using the standard file explorer (Nautilus).

Loving this new updated version and have been using FTP with Filezilla to transfer files to/from my Atari hard disk.

My only problem is 0 byte files as the transfer seems to stop when trying to copy these files to or from UIPtool.

* 30% boost to FTP upload speeds

download: https://bitbucket.org/sqward/uip-tools/downloads/

Here's a benchmark comparing V303 and V310:

Code: Select all

STE V303 V310
upload: 105K 170K

TT V303 V310
upload: 230K 450K

F060 V303 V310
upload: 460K 560K

F030 V303 V310
upload: 300K 420K
Thanks to Kroll for testing!

UIPtool with ftp asks for username and password when starting with filezilla on Atari Falcon030.

What name and pw is used ?
