Re: FORTH on the ST(E)?

I never used FORTH personally but there was an implementation in the German Public Domain which was actually used to release games with.
It can be found in the earlier numbers of the ST Computer collection. IIRC it was pretty bare TOS style but there was support for VDi and co.

Code for ST-LOW will work the same, only the initialization of the video mode itself is different.

Re: *?!!$$* MintNET !!!!! Help ! [SOLVED]

Correct. Forget about web-browsers on our ancient machines. Neither the hardware nor the OS is capable of this. I wouldn't forget about it. Using straight ports is what is problematic. I think intelligent browsers that understand the new input but not necessarily interpret all fancy stuffs would be...

Great little zikdisk! I really enjoyed listening to your YM songs which have (at least for my ear) a distinctive feel to them.

And thanks for credits, that came unexpected ;)

Seem to have an extra section about graphics.
Yes, that's a modernized copy.
I would have no problems if someone decided to continue work on this.

I won't.

Re: Can you mount an ST disk image on a real Atari ST?

There is an desktop accessory doing this but I don't remember the name. i discontinued using it on my Falcon as it caused incompatibilities. It might be better on STs.

Note this will not allow running sector loaders or games from but it is ok to copy files off.

Yes, there were even official upgrade disks one could buy.

Re: Shades of Circuits - a MaxYMiser album

IIRC the official SNDH driver from mym uses GEMDOS Malloc(). Maybe the heap is too small on 4MB systems?

And also I think Grazey/PHF once mentioned he reworked the driver not to use OS calls. It is a safe bet to ask him for help.

Isn't that run from the AUTO folder? That would be too late for this purpose.
No, you run it from the desktop and you can reboot if necessary. One can boot original games this way.

Re: Floppy boot sector Falcon

Any ST method of producing a bootsector should work for the Falcon aswell. Adding that Blitter setup is probably only 2 or 3 instructions.
I'd personally just install Backward emulator and be happy. It actually works pretty good and has free keys for ages.

Re: Floppy boot sector Falcon

That's the same behaviour as with TOS 2.06. A bootsector that does not clear the screen will have remnants of the Atari logo onscreen.
I would have been surprised if Atari had done any changes.

The manual has examples. I would simply try the first one: MAKEDISK /READ DISK.ST /AUTO

Re: Simple DOS application to read Atari 360 KB disk

On a classic DOS/Windows 3.11 machine, the classic MAKEDISK tool should still work. This one will read ST disks to .ST images under DOS. I used it 20 years ago with my P166 system under Windows 95. Try this version here: http://no-fragments.atari.org/no_fragments_01/TOOLS/WIN32/MAKEDISK_V15.ZIP Take...

Probably saved some gates in the shifter and not to mention that the original ST design didn't want to be a game machine but a Macintosh competitor (which it did with bravo).

An ACSI to SCSI interface and I think they are hard to find.
But otherwise once you have such a bridge I assume you can use MAc style SCSI devices with no problem, while having an appropriate hard disk driver though.

And if you really want to go cheap, try czietz's bootloader to use EmuTOS as the harddisk driver.

Re: Issues running a game on HATARI - Linux Mint

It is the most recent official TOS for STFM machines. Stable is a matter of opinion, 1.02 is also said to be good. Most common combinations for STFM games should be TOS 1.00, 1.02 or 1.04 and 512K or 1MB memory, covering all 520STFM and 1040STFM ever sold. A few early games don't like newer TOS and ...

Try using TOS 1.04, 1MB memory and STFM configuration That should be compatible.

The original game works on my 1040STFM with that and should with Hatari.
