I talking about floppies because ST browser is such Total Commander plugin.
But what I described is practically what you want: just try it. Of course, that longer LFN will be converted to some ugly names with ~ and numbers in. There is no way for automatic renaming them to something nice and tasty. You need to do it manually. But if filename is not longer than 8.3, it will be properly capitalized - all letters will be capital. Just turn on "Use long name" after copy, and all files will be shown as will look on Atari - with capital letters.

Sorry for reviving a somewhat old thread, but I just installed this plug-in and I can't quite get it to work. It opens the .ST files, but they are always empty. Is it still working with newer versions of Total Commander? I am using TC V 8.52a, I have tried both the 32- and 64-bit versions.

Plugin doesn't work with 64bit TC but should works quite ok with 32bit TC (I use it with 8.51).
That plugin doesn't support ST/MSA files which don't have a valid GEMDOS file system.
I can open most ST/MSA files which have a proper ST file system but I know that there are some valid .ST files which are not properly recognized. In case of an issue you can try to open ST/MSA with Steem/Hatari.
I'd like to correct my plugin but unfortunately a few years ago I lost my source code.

Thanks for replying Cyprian! I have tried it a bit further in 32bit TC, but still the same. The file always opens, with no errors, and its always empty. I am currently recovering some of my old work disks and they work fine, well mostly :), in STEEM. They are as far as I understand it , properly GEMDOS formatted disks. I have tested a lot of different disks, probably something wrong on my end, wonder what though. But I can still recover my files, your plug-in just seemed really convenient! Besides I can't manage without my Total Commander :)

Bummer about the lost source code! Still, thanks for the plugin, it's always great to see people keeping the ST alive!

Thanks.
Can you provide me that ST file?
I'd like to verify where I did a mistake with my plugin. And I'll try to create a new one.

You can check your ST/MSA image files with this: http://atari.8bitchip.info/floimgd.php
Open Another Image File, then File Transfer . If you don't see files there, it is most likely not FAT12 format, or data is corrupted. Disk geometry displayed at top may give some clue too. Normally it is 9 or 10 sectors/track , 1 or 2 sides, 80 cylinders.
I was thinking about using code from it for TC plugin. But really have no such big experience in C programming.
Cyprian: where to look for some guide about TC plugin coding ? Well, I guess that there is such on TC home page :-), but maybe you know more .

Thanks for the link AtariZoll! The files show up in the Floppy Image program, but not in TC. Must be something wonky with my TC ...

I have figured it out now! For some reason the ST files was opened by my TC ISO plug-in instead of the Juliet one. No idea why that happened, but once I changed it, its now working! Thanks for your help guys and thank you Cyprian for an awesome plug-in!

Cogweasel nice to hear that :)

Cool idea. You have really good knowledge and needed code.

Pera it was 10 year ago, but if I remember correctly I got all needed details from TC page.

BTW would be cool if you were add "Delete File" button to your great DRimg tool :)

Thanx Cyprian. I can add button easily, but code for deleting will be little harder

button will be fine :)

Regarding TC plugin, there you can find a source code for ADF TC plugin http://www.coderbug.rs/projects/amigadx
Just let me know whether you're going to create .ST/MSA plugin. If no I'll try to recreate my Juliet plugin.

Any news about an update to that TC plugin?
It cannot browse as much .MSA or .ST files, that "Floppy Image" can.
But "Floppy Image" is less practical.

I am interested too, I want to convert over 300,000 .ST files into hard drive format so this plugin will be perfect. I am at present looking to convert the entire Tosek library into hard drive format, will create several zip files from my already sorted directories. Anyone that has a hard drive or hard drive replacement such as Ultra Satan, Satan Disk, CosmosEX, etc might be interested in the output from my work on these files, a big project , probably several weeks worth. I will post a link to my Mega site with all of the converted files later on, of course I have a link to my .st files all sorted, but this computer is the only one that will connect to the internet and it takes forever to uncompress and decrypt all of my files. Russ Campbell

PS: Those of you who have RetroFun's Ultra Satan devices, the battery for use in ti is a CR1025 (a little smaller than the holder but makes it easy to get out), and its 3.0 volts DC.

OK so I have done as far as FloppyShop files, when I am done I will post the entire thing on Mega, lots of errors in disks from Tosek, I assume not all disks were copied properly, I will have the log files from Total commander so that anyone can see where the bad files are...still working on it , will be for the next week or two as I unzip over 300,000 files, then we will see what has to be uploaded, I assume that if the file bombs on your plugin, then it must be a bad file, or a weird directory. Anyways back to work, Russ Campbell

Hello Russ,

I don't know what you're naming as "the entire TOSEK library".

But if it involves commercial games, most of those are not file based but loading data from disk sectors directly, or even simply not runnable from any drive location.
Hopefully some people did the job of adapting a lot of those games to file for hard drives : Peter Putnik, DBug, Klapauzius.

For PD collections though, files extraction from floppy images would be doable and definitely interesting.
But even more interesting would be cataloging the software extracted from those, like on Atarimania. ;)

What I mean is all of the Atari ST collection, and yes some of the files are unreadable as they are boot disks, but I have had about a n 80 percent success, most of the commercial games are cracked anyways so with Peter's help they can be made runnable on a hard drive , I am now as far as getting the applications and Collections directories ready for upload to Mega. I have 7 sorted directories to go through yet and it will take time. There are quite a few files that were never checked especially in the PD areas, there I have about 90 percent success rate with about 20 percent being bad, the entire Fast Club collection is boot disks, ie: no directories shown with this plugin. I will look at them later on with Flo Image and see if they indeed are empty directories, maybe my copy of the ST plugin went bad, but it seems to work on everything else. With over 300,000 files available , they are probably of interest to someone that wants to make sure they will run off a hard drive of Ultra Satan. Russ

PS: I am interested in cataloguing all of the PD files that I have unpacked for AtariAge I am a supporter there.
