When you get the key stuck effect it will stop if you press any key. For now the best solution to avoid it is to use an USB mouse.

It's does but with the latest FireTOS the problem is so bad that the effect starts again and again.

alienkidmj12 wrote:you saying its to do with the mouse, im using a mouse through eiffel.

Yes, any mouse connected to the Atari IKBD controller will produce this problem, through the Eiffel or any other adapter.
Here there is a deeper description of this issue:

I think buying a new ATARI keyboard won't fix your problem.

ah crap :(

i thought it was my imagination to be honest, i had so many issues with fb, so now i know it works in the lab at mcs.

they must be using usb mice over there.

ive had this thing nearly a year with no use :) ill have to find a mouse that actually works

although if i cant use eiffel then i cant use a keyboard as the ps2 ports dont work yet.

ive no keyboards without usb hub built in.

Dave, I asked you last year already to get a cheap USB keyboard and mouse. It is 15 bucks for both and you cold verify a lot of your "issues". Nobody of us is using an Eiffel, so we cannot reproduce what you are doing. Please get some USB-Stuff, and and we all will all have a lot more easy live!

Borrow one set of KB & mouse from office (or friends) to test it out first.

You should still be able to use your PS/2 keyboard attached to the Eiffel. The problem is not the Eiffel, nor the PS/2 keyboard, the problem is any mouse connected to the IKBD. Leave the Eiffel with the PS/2 keyboard and use an USB mouse instead of the PS/2 mouse. It should be fine.

To work around this you must have a speaker, so you can hear it when/if this happens during boot. Strike a key immediately, and the key repeat stops. If you wait just a tiny bit too long you'll get "stuck" keys constantly until you reboot.

I'm using an IKBD keyboard and mouse, and this workaround works fine for me. Very annoying though.

I'm going to try your tip when I get home, but I'm a bit sceptic. :-D

Probably I've asked you already. Which date is the version of the FireTOS you're using?

I can't remember, I haven't used it for weeks now. I used to keep it up-to-date though, has there been any new FireTOS-versions the last couple of years?

Yes, there are some versions patched by Fredi. In the mean time I've searched in the developers forum and I've seen that we had the same conversation in a thread there, look for the thread "ACIA 6850 IKBD in FPGA" in the Hardware subforum. I can't test you trick because my sound chip is dead.

i have like 20 keyboards in a box, usb, i tried random ones and wouldnt work, ive even tried mice i have, 5 different models, no luck :(

will have another look at weekend, its hard finding ones without usb hub.

i had serious issues with my fb since new, none of which were my doing :( i was under impression they had all been tested, ive been under the impression ive been doing something wrong all this time,

i will try my upmost best to locate a keyboard and mouse that work.

Not sure why you're having such a hard time...
My usb keyboard from DELL, old SUN computer keyboard (this one has UNDO & HELP key so i am keying this) and Logitech K120 works for me.
I tried My mouse is HP mouse on it (red light), HP laser mouse and old Microsoft M1000 wireless mouse all works. Best is the HP laser mouse.

may be that's the 10% you referring to not fix.
