Atari 130xe

Postby Mengc » Wed Jul 25, 2018 9:45 pm

Had it in storage and everything's gone digital since. PAL version in UK. Didn't come with rf switch that I remember. Connecting to tv using cable from monitor socket to red white and yellow on tv. Tv recognizes signal as screen changes when I switch it on but it is fuzzy black screen and no sound.

Possibly. Have you a cartridge to try?

get a copy of star raiders cart and try that, it by passes a basic rom and other things

if it works then you have a basic rom failure which it quite common, if it starts then crashes then you have memory issues common again.

if it does not boot at all you have one or more of the major chips failed

I put in one on one cartridge and still the screen is the same. Is it worth getting fixed or should I get one off eBay for around 100.00 ?

Its fixable, but I would get a 800XL and add a 512k upgrade on it.

Track down flashjazzcat from the AtariAge forums. He upgraded my 130XE and did a fantastic job! But he also does repairs on Atari 8-bits. He's also the one who is working on a full GUI for it.

Thanks. I've tracked him down and sent a quote request.
