Atari800 Falcon/TT030 port

Postby Fletch » Wed May 09, 2018 11:54 pm

https://atari800.github.io/download.html

The Atari800 emulator page claims that there is a port for Falcon / TT030. Anyone have this, or is anyone able to build it from source?

Thanks,

-Pete

Before we get ( I guess ) the latest build from mikro :) you can play a little bit with really old version ( 1.3.1 ) which is there:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/atari8 ... 800/1.3.1/
( I remember that about 50% games did work when I tried this long time ago )
Or try the attached 2.1.0 which from what I remember could play 99% of games/demos I tried, but the drawback is, it was compiled without sound.
And I guess that you are aware, that without 060 processor there is not much sense in using it

I always wondered how this would run, and how a TT030 would handle it, sounds like it won't?
Atari 8Bits: 800xl, 600xl, XEGS, 800, 130xe, 130xe (VBXE, U1MB, Stereo POKEY)
Atari STs: 1040STf (broken shifter), 1040STe, Mega STe, TT030, Falcon (CT60e, SuperVidel)

Generally speaking, even CT2 with a 030@50 MHz is not very powerful for that kind of job. You can fool around in BASIC but anything which requires graphics is too slow right now.

As mikro wrote, no chance. I will add a little bit as some years ago I played with a800 on F060 quite some time.
I do not remember how 1.3.1 behaved if it goes for performance ( besides it did not run about 50% of stuff I tried )
But in the attached 2.1.0 generally most games I played where showing 100% of the original speed. If I remember correctly, the lowest performace I was getting was sth like 90%, so it was completely usefull on 100MHz Falcon.
If it goes for demos, I did not try them much, but the performance was noticably worse. Like for example, Numen demo ( which is for sure the pearl if it goes for 8bit platform ):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVuEd742Yyg
for some effects was dropping to like 30% ( or maybe less, dont remember now )
