I was browsing these logos to see if anything stood out to me, and I like quite a few of them, but this one in particular got me thinking:
download/file.php?id=38904&mode=view(I dont think I have enough posts to even quote/repost your image, but it is the one at the top that is made out of blocks.)
This one sticks out for me because it captures the nature of MiSTer, and it's multiple cores kind of being represented by those blocks.
I think if we could make a high-res version, and have logos in those blocks to represent the different cores (without infringing trademark, etc of course) then we would have a pretty awesome logo.
For a smaller sized one since detail in the blocks would be hard to make, we could simplify the individual logos to a block of colored pixels to loosely represent the blown up logo image from the larger logo.
It could be something interactive that could be worked on over time, just like the MiSTer project. Start with say maybe 100 squares and fill out as many squares as we can for the existing cores, and it is also kind of a progress graph on the road to 100 cores! When we reach that, maybe expand it to 200 blocks and convert the previous blocks over to an even smaller size for the next iteration.
As MiSTer becomes more complex and encompassing, so does the logo =)
But where are we gonna find folks that want to make various size icons for all the different cores? That might be an issue. In which case, just maybe do the 100 block logo and just fill that out with the first 100 cores that people make an image for to fill that space, and leave it at that.
Just an idea. I love this project and if I had any graphic editing prowess I would donate it to help with logo design more than this.
