Emulator File Backups go bad!

Postby Plymouth » Tue Feb 17, 2009 1:08 pm

I've been rearranging my harddisk, and so made backups of important files to CD

However, I note that upon reinstallation of the STeem emulator files, said files are no longer runnable! All the data files related to the ST are fine.

By going back to the STeem website and collecting new copies, I can still access my old ST files. But this is still perplexing...

Any ideas please?

Tony

Did you reinstall Steem on exactly same location (path) ?

Problem solved! :D

The write permissions had been changed. Changing them back was quick and easy...

I'm just curious as to why the file permissions changed in the first place...

That would hav e been my first solution if I had seen this topic earlier :) Had the same
problem once (but only on a pc level).

If you write them to CD and them back then they are read-only as far as I know.
This because a normal cd is read-only ;)

You copy the file attributes as well to your HDD, that's the reason.

You could then select the whole folder once it's copied back over from the CD and change all the attributes at once.
