I will be releasing the 1943 new arcade core by the end of March. This is another vertical shooter. I would like to request a firmware feature added:

Support for vertical OSD menu, on vertical games.

Maybe we can enable it with a letter in the config screen. Apart from 1942 and 1943, I will also release soon Commando, Gun Smoke, Avengers... all of these are vertical games.

I know that the obvious is to ask for me to rotate the game screen. It's not trivial. I don't have enough RAM to do it in the FPGA and the SDRAM driver cannot handle that right now. Plus, it adds one frame lag, which is not nice.

Please firmware developers, consider it.

It's a good idea, I already thought about it some weeks ago. But never touched the OSD code, will investigate the possibilities. The best would be to render directly rotated, post-rotating can have RAM issues in the ARM firmware, too.

I have merged your new OSD code (not firmware but verilog) and it works like a charm. I will be releasing the new binaries for 1942 with rotated OSD later.

Looked into the OSD code I realized that the FPGA already has the whole OSD in BRAM, and rotating is just a matter of how to display it. Looking foward to 1943!

Hello,

I'm I correct that there is a new Firmware to fix the MINIMIG issues introduced with Firmware 190303 but a complied version has not yet been released?

Discussion on Firmware changes here:

http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=115&t=34865&start=50

Thanks

A new compiled firmware is available in a pull request (see your linked thread) but this wasn't merged into the mist-binaries repo.

Maybe the firmware maintainers take care of the 3 new pull requests I created on Friday...

As the phrase of "active maintanerS" is bit funny, but I'll look at them soon.

I am not too familiar with what 'pull requests' are, so was firmware_190303 re-compiled & uploaded or is there still a new version waiting in the wings? (to solve the Minimig config issues).

Thanks.

All my 2 USB joysticks are fine, so I don't know what to work on. Is your A button recognized on the input test in the OSD? (And please don't start three threads for one question).

No its not recognised on the input test with or with out the ini file, apologies I wasn't starting a second thread I was just posting it in here as a bug report, was unsure where to put the info to add reports.
and the other thread was a duplicate post that I edited and removed as when I submitted the post it didn't look like it has gone through.

In some lastest cores (C64, C16, Amiga) port 2 joystick test is not working anymore,
when i go on that choice, OSD closes automatically.
In other cores it works fine (so i think that it's not a firmware issue but cores bug)

In a 64K microcontroller?
Good luck for that :)

or at least _folders to organize cores in menu? :)

How should it work?
