CTPCI and Falcon IDE

Postby JoeAtari » Mon Dec 17, 2018 12:06 am

I recently bought a CTPCI on eBay, and I installed it and everything was going great. So far I had only tested a Radeon 9250 card and a couple of different monitors. Suddenly after a reboot, the Falcon IDE drive is not recognized (HDDriver reports error) the led glows for a few seconds then goes out. I am not using the IDE on the CTPCI. The IDE drive works just fine in 030 mode, but now always the error in 060 mode with the CTPCI. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using boot 2.01 and TOS drivers 1.01.

Thanks!

Is the CT6X seated properly? I'd suspect a bad connection to the Falcon Mainboard. To rule out problems with the CTPCI, remove it and try without.

The problem was due to the CPX setting. Somehow in the order I copied things the CPX set the boot to the PCI IDE (I have no drive hooked there). This disabled the Falcon IDE (it was not seen when booting in 060 mode).

The fix was to copy the CPX to a floppy, boot in 060 mode from the floppy (holding alternate key), then save the boot with the Falcon IDE setting. Then switch to 030 mode and copy control.inf from the floppy to drive C root. It took awhile to figure that one out. Now I'll move on to the Ethernet and USB cards. From everything I'm reading on this forum it doesn't look like this is going to be easy! :D
