Personally, I feel they should just forget it if there is nothing different from any steam box.

Yep still a mock up, soon not to be as the story goes. In some ways I agree, it will be a hard market, maybe too hard. In other ways I would like to see Atari make something more than what they have been doing for years. Are they relying on history, yes of course they are, but that's no different than a lot of companies. Do I hold onto my past, of course I do, that's why I still use Ataris. We keep the brand alive in our own way, I say let them do the same with something a little more meaningful. A PC in a box, maybe, but the same could be said with many things, the 68000, 68030...they were not bespoke chips, just computers with a mixture of components, most not bespoke, and a badge. I say let them try, will it be a flop, quite possibly, but hey, better than being static.

The company is the people in it, really. I don't think Atari has any of the old names that made the company great anymore. Certainly not the people who designed the 8 and 16 bit computers.

For a long time I think the Nintendo handhelds have been carrying the species of games that descend from the ones we used to play on Atari. Like the Advance, DS, and 3DS to a lesser extent. There is probably some room for another 2d focused console now that Nintendo's on the Switch

Ok, setting aside the current company's reputation and fiesabilty of yet another retro-style console...

What do the ST/TT computer users here think about the possibility of an Atari branded Home Theater PC used for playing indie games & video streaming? And maybe using as a full-on computer as well.

A decent Steambox with Atari logo why not, but sofar there is nothing but teasers and empty plastics...so I doubt nit will go anywhere.

It's not looking promising, i was quite interested when they first announced it and i quite like the design but all this nonsense has put me right off it. I think it's gonna tank badly if it ever gets released at all.

Let them build it, if it is any good, great, if it isn't we haven't lost anything. I'm not sure why all the negative comments before we even see it. I can wait.
