AES Menu - menu_popup in colours?

Postby wongck » Sun Nov 30, 2014 5:32 am

I am trying to remove my own code for a dialog colour pop-up selection.
The code works but I just wanted to use the lib instead.

My own code is doing this
popup-color1.jpg

and I changed it to use the AES menu_popup system call but it came out like this:
popup-color2.jpg

The pop up box is looking more defined (make out the outline etc) but the colours are missing.

I know menu_popup is for text rather than colours, but I was hoping that will will work for this.

Does it really only work for text?
Or there is some settings I need for it to work for box-colours ?

You can use the AES menu_popup() call with trees made up of basically any type of GEM object, but there are a few rules that must be followed. What type of objects are you using for your colour boxes? In GEMClip I'm doing exactly what you are describing with a set of BOXTEXT with the TOUCHEXIT flag set. You can download the sources and check out the tree POP_COLSEL..

Thanks I will take a look at the RSC. :)
I just used the normal G_BOX object types for the colours.
It would be nice if it will work if I just change it to G_BOXTEXT.

Great it is working.
I just changed my RSC G_BOX to G_TEXTBOX and it is working as expected. :D

Might you have had any of the 3D object flag bits set?

Wow, it's been some time.
Yes. Most likely as almost all my RSC have some 3D objects flags in them.

Yeah, to be honest, most of the last couple of months I've been active here again, I've only skimmed the very top of the list of threads or replied to things i had already looked at. But lately I've been going deeper into the lists and reading older stuff.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think having the 3D object flags set will make later versions of AES that understand them override the color information in some cases.

Yeap, lots of goodies to read here.
Also, if you not already know it, there is a Wiki linked to this forum and you are most welcome to update it especially with your vast knowledge in the ST. http://www.atari-wiki.com/index.php/Main_Page
