For Auction: Atari TT030

Postby dexterslab » Tue Nov 08, 2011 9:44 pm

Well the time has come to finally sell my TT, it will be auto listed on ebay around 8pm UK time on Thursday 10th November (this thursday!), 10 day auction starting at £1.00 (no silly ebay prices here!).

I will ship to EU but it's not cheap i'm afraid, i have been getting crazy quotes for shipping costs.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0619782428
(listing wont show until auction starts)

There are a few videos that will also be visible in the auction:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whTIPmsdj48
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNc15ZhTyiY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUi2_-bSe00

General Specifications:

Late spec motherboard 32Mhz CPU and 32Mhz FPU (no daughterboard)
RAM: Total 65536 Kb TT-RAM, 4096Kb ST-RAM
Disk: Internal 1Gb CompactFlash, 256Mb SD Card (UltraSatan)
ROM: TOS 3.06UK
FDD: Standard Atari 3.5" 1.44Mb High Density
Keyboard: Swedish Keyboard (UK keyboard also included)

Case Condition:

Case is in good condition, a few minor scratches but nothing broken, it is slightly yellowed as they all do. There has been a slight modification to the area around the ACSI port to allow UltraSatan cable through into the drive bay.

Ad-ons & Modifications:

TKR CrazyDots II VME Video Card:
Very rare TKR CrazyDots II VME video card, has 1mb video ram for resolutions upto 1024x768 in 256 colours. Uses the Tseng Labs ET4000 chipset. Output is to standard VGA connection. The included configuration file provides most VESA standard resolutions & timings for use with any CRT or TFT screen with a VGA connection.

CompactFlash / SCSI Conversion:
The original internal SCSI hard disk was removed and exchanged for a compact flash card with the use of a SCSI->IDE converter and a compact flash adaptor mounted to the original drive bay. This provides a faster, cheaper, quieter, cooler and more upgradeable solution than using old SCSI drives. It only takes a few seconds to open the drive bay and swap the CF card for an alternative. Generally i used SanDisk cards of upto 8Gb (The maximum size for TT).

Original UltraSatan SD Card Drive:
Genuine UltraSatan drive modified to be mounted alongside the CompactFlash adaptor in the drive bay, offers two SD Card slots to easily transfer files between the TT and other computers. The UltraSatan is powered by the internal Atari power supply and connects to the ACSI port.

Catch Computer MegTT TT-RAM Expansion Board:
Popular TT-RAM expansion board, populated with 4 rare 16Mb 30Pin SIMMs for a total of 64Mb of TT-RAM (FastRam).

Atari 4Mb ST-RAM Expansion Board:
Standard Atari issue ST-RAM expansion board with 4Mb ST-RAM.

Home-brew 40Mhz FPU Speeder:
Simple modification to improve floating-point processing, clocks FPU at 40Mhz instead of 32Mhz. It is switchable between 32 and 40mhz and easily removed if you dont wish to have this modification.

Power Supply:
The original Atari PSU was stripped out and the internals replaced with a good quality PC style ATX 'Flex' PSU (200Watt), this offered much greater reliability and power regulation than the original unit. The PSU is completly self-contained in the original Atari metal enclosure offering a simple plug-and-go solution. The internal fan was also replaced with a new quieter version.

Software:

The only software included with the sale is the original NVDI3 for use with the CrazyDots video card under standard TOS/GEM.

The included 1Gb CompactFlash card is configured to boot using ICD Pro driver, NVDI is setup and configured and will boot into standard TOS/GEM in high resolution.

Also Included:

EtherNAT NE2000 Card + Enclosure. NE2000 network card and adaptor for connection to the TT's cartridge expansion port, under the correct operating system will allow connection to TCP/IP network & the internet.

Optical Mouse, Atari/Amiga switchable, requires a special reflective mouse mat which is included.

Must be sad for you to have to sell this, so I hope it goes to a great home and not some rotten collector. I'd love to buy it actually but I would have to sell something first!

indeed, it will be a shame... i have spent a lot of time and effort on it over the years, though i have only owned this particular machine for a few years my older TT is still here on the shelf that i bought in the 1990s (which i will probably also sell)

The crazy dots video card was an original purchase by me in the mid 90s so i do have a bit of nostalga for that

The way i think about it now is i dont use it any more, it's rarely turned on so surely it's better for someone else to enjoy it!

So are you (is he?) leaving Atari totally? I have to ask, not being nosey, but why?

Usually not too hard to keep at least one machine around, just for the fun of it. :)

I agree, this is a really fine TT that would be excellent for programming or word processing. Luckily it's not original, so hopefully the collectors would stay away. I had a very similar TT for years and I still regret trading it for my second Falcon. The Falcon hasn't seen nearly as much use as the TT did.

yes, i'm leaving totally, well kind of... chances are i wont need to come on the forum.

I do still have some atari kit... there are a couple of boxed/new Jaguars, my original Jaguar+CD and an old 2600 woody in the collection.

I just dont see the justification to having a TT sat on my workbench doing nothing 99.99% of the time, better someone else can have it and actually use and enjoy it. I only ever wrote simple TOS apps in assember (i've forgotten anything i learned now too) so it's not like i can contribute to any current projects.

Wow, you are really limiting you market. Good luck anyway. One of these days I'm going to find me a video card like that...

Yes it was a really good price considering ultrasatan was included. I blame the economic crisis.

Not being critical, but I think the limited delivery area probably kept
bids lower than would normally be expected for a machine with those
specs...

Could also be people looking for high end power-user systems are waiting on the Firebee, as I don't think the TT is as big with the "antiques collector" tribe. I am weighing up getting a TT, but by the time you factor in a video card, ethernet and some form of card reader, the price is about the same as the 'bee. TT is more compatible (GFA Basic an all), but you take a big hit in graphics (even with a card) and raw processing power.

I don't blame him for not wanting to ship long distances. The last one I bought only traveled one state and got banged up pretty good. Major bummer. Overseas shipping would be pushing ones luck in my opinion. On the other hand the do-dill that sent me mine, didn't have the original box and did a horrible job at packing it. I got another one coming, hopefully from the two I can piece together one nice system.

A very useable specced TT! I hope the new owner is a coder! It would have been marvellous as a Midi machine too! :)

I still wonder as a dual core dual processor G5 comes in for less! With 8gb of ram etc. . . Lol
