ATARI Best of Demo DVD for the Demo Event in Vienna

Postby ThorN » Fri Dec 28, 2007 10:12 am

In Juliy there will be a Demo exhibition in Vienna / Austria. Gina one of the Organizers wanted to have a DVD with a selection of the best ATARI ST Demos and ATARI Falcon Demos.

When this DVD is created, it will be shown on a Monitor at the Exhibition and a real ATARI will be shown as well

The idea is now to setup a poll, which 30 Demos are the most important, most funny etc that should be shown at the party. (I'm shure that there are about 29 important tscc prods to be mentioned :-)
The poll will include 50 demos, I will set up such a poll if this is possbile here, otherwise it will be a list and people could post a vote.

Feedback and a personal selection of demos that have to be in the list are welcome

When the list if finished, we need some help to make the DVD and when the DVD is ready, it will also offered at the Exhibitian, and the money the exhibition earns with the DVD will be the prize money of the next ATARI compo.

I we could some demos from the atariscene dvd of course we will do that, cause we need not to invent the wheel twice. On pouet there are also some demos available as video.

But first we need a list of demos to decide which ones we wanted to include.

We had just a meeting of people who are participate to these exhibition and there will be a ST and a Falcon part

Kradd: I deleted your repeated post (before you wonder where it went).

On this DVD - will it be a mix of classics and new .. or just those with the most brain-blasting effects?
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

It's a difficult one this - you could fall into the trap of becoming very nostalgic & going for stuff that is very old but holds fond memories... that probably won't come across too well for outsiders looking in. You could go too far the other way & end up with a soulless selection of stuff people from the good old days would not recognise as being very atari at all.

For me I'd say you've got to try to dig deep and find that rare kind of atari demo with either some kind of original content, design or take on presentation, something that you can say is way more atari and a lot less amiga. there's plenty of stuff that apes amiga design and ye olde fx, i doubt there's much that does any of that better than the original, but i wouldn't know/care as i've never been too interested in that muck ;)

i'd say picking out falcon stuff is going to be hardest of all, my rose-tinted spectacles will have to be in place ;)

krad, i'll pm you with a handful of things i can come up with for inclusion in your list of 50ish prods & look forward to voting when you have enough ideas from people.

I love Lost Blub but big parts of it really don't stand up well against similar stuff on other platforms... it makes me cringe a bit in parts but I personally love every single second of it... we must have watched that demo a couple of hundred times in our cider & demos phase ;)
