Well I did mentioned that the floppy cable is soldered to the mobo.
Of course, I was looking at my Falcon at that point, but IIRC, I did use my HxC on my STFM sometime last year (may 2 years ago) and it was the same ... short.

The way around this was to get a USD $4 cable from Cables online which another member found (url in posting above).
I would want to get one of them for myself but they do not ship to Asia. :(

Another case where Atari saved the money on the wrong end....

I replaced a cable once, IIRC, I just took a pair of really sharp scissors <audience gasps in horror!> and
cut the useless PC orientated end off. Then, (again with correct pin orientation in mind) I pressed the
cable onto the "teeth" of that connector and reattached the plastic cover. Seems like I had to do this
a couple of times until I got it exactly right (wasn't pressed in enough/bad cut first time?) but it did
eventually work.

HTHS.

PS But Wong and the others have it right I think - the easiest way would be to find an *extension* that
just plugs between the existing internal floppy drive cable and whatever device you're hooking it too.
That way there's no desoldering, sharp scissor wielding mayhem, etc, etc,...

Do any one know if there is another supplier of the extension cables other than Cables Online?

I live in the UK and it will take two to three weeks to arrive... no lid on the STE at present and I do not want to be doing this :coffe: and then this happens 8O and I will be all
