WIne is damned clever; good idea. But what I find with it is that there is no way to gauge what will work, What I am saying is I have really complicated app's work and I have had the simplest of app's fail. In the latter group is an Atari arcade collection. But heck nothing ventured nothing gained.

Shredder11 wrote:I much prefer your idea of a software selection screen on the Atari itself.

That was my idea a long long time ago. With a default boot disk for each platform which could use the computer screen, keyboard and mouse to select disk image(s) into a queue and a single button masquerading as the disk eject button to cycle between images and press and hold (used like the Apple one-button mouse) to return to the default disk image.

Disk selection and queuing can be done with read/write patterns or perhaps to illegal disk locations.

Don't worry, this mode will be supported quickly, that's why the lcd can be removed ;-).

For Linux :

cd HxC_Floppy_Emulator_soft_src
cd linux
make

it's done .

Thanks Jeff that is good to know and the fact the firmware is upgradeable, made me think you might add such a feature at some point. Obviously due to the nature of the ST, the filenames will be short but at least that is better than no name!

No no filenames can be long too, since i don't use the TOS to manage SDcard files ;-)

And yes the firmware is upgradable with a simple sdcard.

Nice. The hardest thing I guess will be converting the SD directory & file information into extra sectors superimposed onto this platform specific default boot disk image. Get the API sorted and each platform's community will undoubtedly step forward to write the platform specific code and add shiny GUI's etc.

Is there a reasonable cost saving for a board without the LCD?

Yes but this one are unavailable and need to be tested (some of these low cost lcd need a -5V negative polarisation power supply to work, so beware...)

Super! TBH thought it was odd that Continentals wouldn't have a Linux option for a project.

In a way the Atari movement's survival is founded in Continental Europe's rejection of the Microsoft / Apple nexus (especially the former.)

It's now done in the device side (tested against a simple dos program ) ! :D
Next step : make the host software.

Now you can found the video demo of the SD HxC Floppy Emulator "On System Disk Selector" for Atari ST (alpha version) here :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQimURqIEU4

(for the moment it's slow, and not very pleasant, but this can be easily improve in the future :D )

Thanks that is a definite step in the right direction. Just need to be able to browse directories and that should suffice.

Very good work. This will soon become THE product to own for classic computer owners.

The sooner you can release the API to the community the sooner talented programmers with more spare time than yourself will amaze you buy creating fantastic front-ends for platforms you never heard of :)

The thing that sways me towards this interface is the cross platform aspect, and seeing as I love the Atari ST/E, Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum this means I have now ordered the SD version
