Looks like a nice forum and have just joined, is there any chance of an introductory section on your forum, so the people can introduce themselves ?

Also the forum structure is a little unbalanced at the moment, maybe you could structure the boards in order of machine type and sub sections?

Atari ---> Atari 8-bit --> Atari ST --> Atari Falcon --> Atari Jaguar --> Atari Lynx etc. and so on? Or give them their own boards rather than subsections?

Just suggestion to help it be more accessible.

Have a good one.

"Second-rate computers" - that sounds pretty bad. I will join only if you put Atari ST in same range with 8-bit Ataris. And that will be generous - you must admit that in compare to ST some 800XL is 'second-rate' :-)

Other than being unnecessarily insulting towards ST users, not to mention Portfolio users, what's the point?

We need fewer forums, not more.

I think you have a valid point. I only check here and sometimes Atariage, hardly ever dhs forum, Atarizolls forum, atari.org , usenet etc. Information spread across various forums makes things harder to find IMHO. I try and help people here and Atariage, but my time is limited and I just don't have time to go around every forum. I think this forum has the most active members. Atariage has some activity (I only check the ST section) Though mostly they are duplicate posts from here anyway. I don't think any Atari forums are active as this one and its not going to vanish or die out anytime soon either. I don't think splitting up members to sometimes be here and sometimes be elsewhere is a good idea. While there are people who probably will go around every forum, a lot of people like me don't have the time.

Gonna go with the flow here as well - I also have less time these days and Atari Forum
and Atari Age are mostly it. Atari Forum is the most active ST/Falcon wise while Atari Age
offers healthy 8bit, Jaguar and Lynx sections.

I also find this very unnecessary. I am mostly here and at the AtariAge forum, when reading Atari related stuff, and post rarely. I doubt this new forum will give anything new, that these two forums don't already have.

Oh my goodness. This new board really does have ST and Portfolio listed under "2nd-Rate computers" 8O

I think that speaks for itself...I'll have to pass on the new board lol.

As much as I love my 800XLs, marking the ST (or any other system) as a 2nd rate computer isn't great marketing. A board can only survive on its membership.

hi guys

forum was setup for a small group of people (friends mainly) to exchange info etc, and then extended to other atari forums as we know there'll be loads out there with knowledge and info they will wish to share.

we're not looking to be something big, global or compete with other , it's just for those that like the idea of a small community
all are welcome - even if they only "drop by" infrequently.

thanks again

I think there's still room for another Atari 8bit computer forum, I find the Atari Age one a bit baffling for a casual user as there is so much stuff going on in one section, and a forum which breaks things down more like this forum does, with sections for hardware etc, would be nice for people like me, who only dabble with the 8bits and are generally clueless on the subject, to get their heads round things. May be try and specialise on that rather than spreading yourself over so many formats. Good luck with it, I might pop in now and again to see how it progresses.
