Rodolphe Czuba's websites mirrored & fixed

Postby mikro » Sun Mar 19, 2017 5:32 am

Hi,

as you might have noticed, http://rodolphe.czuba.free.fr and http://www.powerphenix.com aren't exactly stable and reliable when you need to download / look for something. For instance, the latter one seems to be in state of a bad backup restore and it offers totally outdated (and pointed to by a broken link...) CT60 firmware.

So I stayed awake a couple of hours longer, armoured myself with some scripts and tools, web.archive.org and results is this: https://mikrosk.github.io/ct60tos.

There's about 7-8 files missing (mostly from Museum) but the rest should be all right.

If you want to fix something, there's nothing easier than to fork the whole repository on github and send me a pull request. :)

So there are now two mirror sites.

The other one by Exxos was mirrored couple of years ago, so I wonder which one is more complete or newer.

Haha, it wasn't as easy as wget, trust me. Especially because powerphenix.com is outdated (!). I had to write a few scripts to generate URLs, access the servers "behind website's back", dig inaccessible files from web.archive.org and so on. Lot of fun.

Exxos' attempt is noble but way too incomplete, try to click on anything in http://powerphenix.exxoshost.co.uk/rodo ... rview.html for example.

BTW, Rodolphe was so impressed with my work that he gave me login to his FTP and promised to redirect powerphenix.com to github and update the files from there. :D That means that we will eventually get the missing files as well I just have troubles to access his FTP (perhaps wrong credentials).

Also, if there's anyone with spare time, the website(s) need serious cleanup -- there's a lot of duplication, mainly because the first versions of the website were running on an Microsoft server (case insensitive paths...) so there's a lot of mess with folders like "ctpci", "CTPCI", "english", "English" etc, you never know which one to update. Not so speak about files themselves, many of them are duplicated in the same folder only with capitalisation etc.

I might be able to help if I ever get any time. I still need to install my CT60e, so I'll dig through the mirror as I'm doing it and see if I can't submit some fixes.

This is redirected to powerphenix.com, which does not seem to be complete/working.

Edit: This link for example: http://www.powerphenix.com/ct60/sdmatest.prg

I know, this is on purpose (for now) -- Rodolphe is going to change DNS records to point to github, so this is a side effect before he does that.

OK, this took way longer than I had anticipated but thanks to the joint venture of me, Rodolphe and Thierry I can offer you:

  • full content of powerphenix.com and rodolphe.czuba.free.fr websites
  • 100% of links fixed and working in both English and French mutation
  • The missing museum files added and made available for everyone
  • Everything available to the public with the github web interface
I have also full content of centek.{online,free}.fr with some surprises. :) Stay tuned and for now feel free to use http://powerphenix.com as your ultimate/official CT2/CT60/CTPCI source. The source code is available at https://github.com/mikrosk/ct60tos/tree/gh-pages, while all the CT60/CTPCI releases are available at https://github.com/mikrosk/ct60tos/tree/master.

Btw, my plea still stands: if there's someone with free time & motivation, fee free to fork the repository and fix that utter mess (mostly UPPERCASE vs. lowercase folder names, duplicates, normal html code etc).

Well, this is about restoring Rodolphe's stuff, not Didier's. That's a whole new thing and much less probable to fix in the future (as Didier is gone, reluctance with releasing anything FireTOS related persists etc).

But since you asked, my RTL8139 work is of course public since the day zero: https://github.com/mikrosk/freemint/tree/rtl8139 :) It's just not finished.

Thanks Mikro.
I just want to see why my DFE-538TX is not detected by the driver as it was mentioned that this card also works with the RTL8139 driver from Assemsoft. My take is that the vendor id/device id may not be tested. Will take a look at it later.

When going there I got 404 message from Github

Looks like a case issue (CT/ct) - a working URL is: http://powerphenix.com/CT60/english/overview.htm

Yeah, an unfortunate side effect of Windows hosting -- on disk it's "CT60" but the original link was "ct60" (which is cached by Google). I fixed a lot of them but cached results persist. :-/

As I said, anyone willing to clean this mess is more than welcome. I just made sure the website links are all working.

OK, I had a spare moment so I have fixed it all for good. I have also added fallback links (CT60 -> ct60 etc) so now it should really work no matter what your original URL was. There's a few duplicate files (.JPG vs .jpg) but I don't care that much now.
