I have one of those 040->060 adapters for my A4000D, they're pretty cool! What MHz can you get out of it? Mine tops out at 64 despite the delay line mod being done. I don't think the a3640 or motherboard can cope with more than 32mhz. I'd love a zorram too but you just can't get them anymore so I've done the 64mb motherboard hack instead.

I haven't tried getting more than the 50mhz out of it, maybe one of these days. I hadn't heard of the 64mb motherboard hack, that would be sweet. I should try again to get the Radeon memory in there fully. At one point I had 384mb of ram.

They have the big ram plus boards http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/cat ... ts_id=1129

The snag with the bigram board is its slightly longer than the zorro slot so may clash with any PCI cards (if you're using a mediator) or ISA cards on a standard zorro daughterboard. The zorram board is not as long so there's no such clash.

Is the difference that much to swap those out? Just curious on why you'd get the ct60e if you already had a ct63.

Ah, that makes sense. Kind of surprised Amigakit hasn't done another run of them, I am pretty sure that one was one of their own designs.

Same here, would be interesting to see set up, heat differences, etc. Though I don't know if anyone that will have both will have an infrared camera. :P

My DA-1 psu seems to be faulty.
So the question is, are 90w enough while going for 100+ mhz (+ addons) or play safe and get a 120w?

I'd say 90W would be plenty. My Falcon with Afterburner and Eclipse graphics card use less than 25W.

Excellent, will you be able to fit it soon? Any comments or photos on the process would be great!

Does the power from the motherboard to the floppy drive need to be unplugged and the floppy powered directly from the atx/pico psu?

And do you think it's ok to temporarily run the 060 at the default 66mhz with just a heatsink, no fan, to test that the installation is a success?

The CT60e powers the Falcon through the Falcon power connector, so you can power the floppy from the motherboard just like on a stock Falcon.

Been doing that for 15 years on my Milan060. 68060 rev 1 @ 60MHz with only a heatsink. It barely gets lukewarm.

Great! It was quite tricky to align the CT60e with the motherboard header. Time for some lunch, to put the heatsink on and then power up! I hope it doesn't blow up

Right, I get a boot screen but I then get an "SDRAM chip density error"

The ram I have is Samsung SD RAM 512MB 133Mhz PC133-CL2 K4S560832C-ZC75

Any ideas?

I can't find any info on the density of your modules, but I'm assuming it's what's discussed under density here:

http://www.ebay.com/gds/MythBUSTED-Dens ... 852/g.html

I guess the CT60e needs either high density (~"single sided") or low density (~"double sided"). If I understood things correctly.

My 512MB SDRAM has 2 rows of chip, so it's low density.

It has chips on both sides? While it's not a 100% indication according to the link above, that usually means it's low density.

Sorry to be precise... 1 row at the front and 1 row at the back...so total 2 rows as opposed to 1 row only.
1 row is high density chips (so use less for same amount of memory).
And these works for me.

There's some discussion on this in the CT60 doc:

http://jil.guru/32bit/CT60e/doc/chg.pdf

For 512MB the following is ok:

8 chips, on both sides, chips are 32Mx8b each
4 chips, on both sides, chips are 32Mx16b each

512MB _not ok_:

Chips on only one side.

This is of course assuming CT60e follows the same rules. I'm not sure if the "All DIMMs with 2 logical banks chips = obsolet (CT60 needs 4 logical banks chips)" comment can apply to 512MB DIMMs as well.

Err, no.

You can't determine if your RAM is compatible by just counting the number of chips on the stick. While this might work for low capacity DIMMS, it doesn't for larger ones (that's why the linked docs above say 64 MB with 16 chips doesn't work).

If you look closely at the eBay pictures, you can read the individual SDRAM chip's part number:

K4S560432E

You can also download the datasheet of these SDRAM chips. This will tell you that this is a 16 MBits x 4 banks x 4 bits chip (resulting in a capacity of 32 MB per chip or 32 x 16 = 512 MB per stick). 4 bits is _not_ supported with the CT60.

In the exact same datasheet, you'll see Samsung built these chips also as 8 MBits x 4 banks x 8 bit (K4S560832E) and 4 MBits x 4 banks x 16 bit (K4S561632E). DIMMS with these chips would also be double sided and would also have 16 chips/stick, looking exactly the same except the chip numbers, but should be well supported (at least according to the FireTOS sources).

If you go shopping, look carefully on the pictures provided.
