I kind of thought that was the point? Doesn't the super videl pretty much require a CT6x? And I thought the CT60e was supposed to basically be better/newer than the CT60 and CT63.

I need one so I can write up my comparison between Amiga+latest OS on 68060 vs Atari Falcon + Latest OS on 68060.

Yes, they definitely should be compatible. The CT60 expansion port pins have not been changed.

AFAIK, the CT60e just a re-layout of the old CT60 with a builtin CTCM.
1st post says it all.... mostly mechanical improvements, no additional new features.

leech wrote:And I thought the CT60e was supposed to basically be better/newer than the CT60 and CT63.

I guess only better mechanically. Newer... of course, last batch of CT63 is probably like 3-4 years ago.

Currently the CT63, when you push the ATX power socket in, it will lift up the board as like a lever because of the design.
So some pins are not fully pushed in. Once u know that fact, you just push the entire board back to place, rather than powering it on and says it is not working.

But then I only do that once when I setup again my Falcon from the cupboard. For someone who does not move his Atari stuff in and out, there's practically no advantage. Of course you can always plug in the ATX power socket before mounting the CT63 onto the Falcon, which is a better way as you can support the CT63 PCB area where the ATX power socket goes in with the edge of a table (or whatever).

Also the fan is out of the way of the keyboard... that's the best part of the re-layout

There are improvements besides mechanical ones:
Willy has rearranged the order of the ABE, 060, SDR on the address and data lines of the CT60 100MHz bus, and managed to shorten the length of the bus heavily. This together with impedance matching using series resistors at the correct places has improved the signal integrity so that we can remove the extra waitstates in the SuperVidel VHDL code when receiving bursts (MOVE16). Maybe we shouldn't promise too much now, but a MOVE16 burst takes currently something like 9+3+3+3 cycles due to poor signal integrity, and with the CT60e we can probably go down to 9+1+1+1. This means that a 100MHz bus would give 133 MB/s instead of 89 MB/s.

That's delicious! Gimme!!

@calimero. Ha, not sure if I'd go so far as to say it is a wet dream of mine, but I would love to see a write up of which each side of the 'war' ended up with a maxed out system (m68k, I never bought into the PPC stuff, though kind of always wanted one).

From what I have seen, Atari side has been able to get stable 100+ Mhz 68060 stable, the Amiga scene I think has gotten maybe 80? It tends to get a bit unstable past that (might be 90, trying to remember).

@leech and on Amiga you have far lower memory speed with 060...
Rodolphe Czuba did great job with CT6x! and Nature with SuperVidel

Yeah, especially since my accelerator died, and so now I only have 128mb Zorro III RAM, instead of the memory right on the CPU board. I still have the 060 via an 040 -> 060 adapter.

One could only imagine if Motorola had stuck with the 68k line, and Atari / Commodore had continued to exist.

Hello.

I apologize for the very big delay again.
But finally, The CT60e was sent to production about 4 weeks ago.
I expected the first batch to be ready before SillyVenture 2k16, but unfortunately, due to some logistic problems it will be delayed another few weeks :(

Some practical info.
The price will be 250€.
I was asked why is it so high. So, ... Taxes, IP, big, 6 layer PCB, integrated CTCM, etc. Of course, there is also a place for a small glass of whiskey in the afternoon.

The CT60e will be available to buy via webshop. There is coming a new website with lots of goods gathered together.
The website is not ready right now, so "we" have decided to keep it secret for now.

The first batch will be of 100pcs. All of you who send an email to Rodolphe Czuba or to me will have reserved one piece from the first batch.
Rest of the first batch (about 40 - 50 pcs) will be sold on a first come first served basis.
But, you don't have to worry if you will be too late. Next batch will be produced right after the first one is sold out.

So. Stay updated.

Ps. cu@sv2k16 (ct60e will also be there)

Hello, some questions:

1. The power supply for ct60e is ATX connector, as in Falcon chassis there is not enough room, a Pico-ATX power supply with external notebook power adapter would be the thing. How many ampere it must have on which voltage? (I think 5V, 12V, 3.3V are the relevant ones?). Maybe this one, up to 160W? http://www.ebay.de/itm/DC-12V-160W-24Pi ... 2325421865

2. What is tThe Fast RAM type to be used. The solder eyes on the board look like SDRAM, but which type and max size? (I think 512 MB would be more than enough...) SDR, DDR-1, DDR-2 ?

I would guess that this is overkill :) I recently replaced one of my Falcons' PSU with a PicoPSU, and with an Afterburner, Eclipse graphics card and a 40Gb IDE disk it draws just over 20W. I was quite surprised by that.

So I see 160W is overkill. But it's very cheap and it has reserves. So I hope it will last long time.

Yeah, if it's not too expensive, I don't see why you wouldn't just get a 160w, and while it may be overkill for this, you never know if in the end you'll have USB devices that need to draw power from it, right? I would think that would be where any extra power draw would come into play. Anyone know how much extra power draw a CosmosEX would add?

250 euro is pretty inexpensive, 060's are easily obtained by users. Picked up 3 last year on eBay for about $180. Before you ask, yes the good ones, tested after receiving @ 95mHZ.....
Try purchasing an 060 board forcc an Amiga :)
Have an order in for three. Just being able to move over the PS mounts makes it worth it. Makes adding sub cards much easier. If when they arrive, may consider selling one or two CT60s, but am NOT taking Pre Orders :)
