Attention,
The last CTPCI CPLD is not 1J but 1K !
Using with SDR7D may cause big problems !!

When I ask to do the 3 CPLD update, this means in the same time !

By the way, you have to mention the model and date of your HDD (is it a 4500 or 5400 rd/min ?)...
AND it seems you did the tests with CACHE 5s option, not CACHE NORMAL option (I see more speed here on writes !).

HDD is Hitachi TravelStar HTS541040G9AT 5400 rpm.
But I do not know the date, I think after year 2000.
And yes, I am using cache delay 5s option. But even with this settings it's already great !!! :thumbs:

So now with the same hard disk but set cache NORMAL, I get the following in TOS.

Running on using TOS CTPCI IDE with NORMAL Cache:
DISK_READ=11.015; (Mo/sec)
DISK_WRITE=9.453; (Mo/sec)

DISK_MULTIREAD=7.193; (Mo/sec)
DISK_MULTIWRITE=7.354; (Mo/sec)
DISK_CREATE_DELETE=141.8; (op/sec)
DISK_READ_WRITE_CACHE=7.318; (Mo/sec)

and yes, write speed improved nearly 300% over falcon IDE !!!! 8O

Hi sorry my ignorance, but program CTPCI is the same procedure of SDR? i mean

http://nokturnal.pl/home/atari_16_32_bi ... re_upgrade

I ask cause this url talk only about sdr,

"Firstly you have to select ABE*.JED and after that SDR*.JED (if you will do it in wrong order nothing will be working after the firmware update)."
And the CTPCI is need to be inserted or out? wanna be sure for not making some mess

thx!

for ctpci, there is only 1 file. So there is no possibility to do it in wrong order.

Added a short how-to for firmware update on our AF wiki.
This has information for both CT60 & CTPCI.

wongck,

in your CTPCI upgrade guide you explicitly state one needs a JTAG parallel cable to be hooked up to a PC with full parallel port. However, there are good USB JTAG cables as well that work without any problem. I use one of those and have updated my CT63 and CTPCI with the use of the XILINX software.

A USB JTAG ought to works as well. You tried that, I will add it in.
I was not sure if the JATG USB was equivalent to a parallel cable version 3, as the USB Jtag cable are called Platform USB cables by Xilinx.
May be different and I did not want to say something wrong.
Since I am not rich enough to buy those expensive cables, I use a cheapo one from eBay :mrgreen:

Also the parallel port version does not work with USB adapter as in USB-parallel port adapter. May be I need to word that clearer. :roll:

Don't forget that you can update the firmware from the Falcon itself. That's what I do and it works perfectly. No need for a PC and some Windows software.

Yes, instructions for that is not too clear. You must solder a resistor to the CT60. :roll:
I guess, it is good way as the CPLD versions will be correctly displayed.

Do you? I never have. But maybe the previous owner did?

I was hoping you can verify that one.
Like I said, the way I read the instructions on the webpage, it looks like so.
I don't mind using the Falcon, bcos, having the versions correct would be nice.

That's indeed an important one as well with the advantage that updating from the Falcon itself correctly reflects the SDR and ABE version where programming them using XILINX software does not update the new versions!

HI,

sorry maybe a simple question, but I wanted to make sure before attempting to update CT63 and CTPCI

During the weekend I would like update my CT63 and CTPCI to try use USB and network card. In this moment I have older version firmware in my CT63 which allow to use only Radeon card. I would like to update CT63 to newer version ABE_7F and SDR_7D, of course in 030 mode, using JTAG cable and PC computer. The question is that the CTPCI card can be inserted into the CT63 or remove it ?

Then plug in the JTAG cable to the CTPCI and to update the firmware to version CTPCI_1M, still in 030 mode.

if is this the right way ?

The another question is:
in this moment I have Boot 2.0 beta 2
I dont know why but I have some problem to flash the boot and drivers to version 2.01. What do you think with this version 2.00 beta 2 will be work fine ?

Regards
Kroll

The guide in AF wiki seems to tell you the steps involved with some details.
It will give you a good idea of what to do but bear in mind that your're using USB.

I will have to update my CTPCI very soon to use a USB and Network card and I am looking for instructions. Unfortunately the Wiki is down and Web Archive don't have the link saved.
Where can I find instruction to update the CTPCI. I have found somes for the CT60, but it's not clear for the CTPCI.
Do I follow exactly the same procedure and use the same JTAG port of the CT60 to update the CTPCI? Or is it a port on the CTPCI ? In this case does the CTPCI needs to be pluged in the CT60?
I have a CT60e, beside installing TOS 2.02 (which I believe is done with the updater not with the JTAG cable ) do I need to update also the ABE and SRD, or just the CTPCI?
