SDL and Milan

Postby Patrice Mandin » Sat Oct 10, 2009 11:17 am

Hello,

Next SDL release is real soon now. I started implementing support for Milan XBIOS functions, which will also be used for soon-to-come Supervidel and also video cards for CTPCI.

If you have a Milan, please download and test these programs, and report any problem here, or by mail at patmandin@gmail.com
http://pmandin.atari.org/download/sdlmilan.zip

Beware than running those may crash the machine, so don't run anything important at the same time. vidinfo.ttp should just list video modes. sprite.ttp should switch to 640x480 and display moving sprites.

Thanks

Just tested it on my MIlan060 with ATI graphics card. 1280x1024/16 bit. FreeMiNT+XaAES.

sprite.ttp: Opens a 640x480 window and displays a lot of (slowly) moving sprites.
vidinfo.ttp: Prints the following:
Current display: 1280x1024, 16 bits-per-pixel
Red Mask = 0x0000f800
Green Mask = 0x000007e0
Blue Mask = 0x0000001f
Fullscreen video modes:
1280x1024x16
A window manager is available

Hum, if it opens a window, I suppose it was using gem video driver.
Can you try this, from a bash shell:

Code: Select all

$ export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=xbios
$ ./sprite.ttp

Changes the colours to a red/yellow scheme and draws what I suspect are the same sprites at the top of the screen. The resolution stays at 1280x1024 though, so the display is corrupt.

It looks like the problem is that it doesn't find a valid resolution below 800x600. It switches to 8-bit (atleast it looks like it does) but does not switch resolution.
