Guess what, there will be a release very soon, of v3.7.3.
This will mostly contain some bugfixes, so that v3.7 ends on a positive note.
Also, I've just noticed that Visual Studio 2008 can optimise code quite a lot, both size and performance, and before releasing v3.8 I'd like to be sure that it doesn't crash on every two computer (bad experiences with VC6).

Why dont you go directly to Visual Studio 2015?
Lots of nice features compared to the 7 years old VS2008 + more optimizations ...

One reason is that it will be linked against the C++ runtime DLL, which is present on most computers.
I'm not even sure you can install VS2015 on a Vista machine.

Steem SSE 3.7.3 WIN32 has been released on 5 December 2015.
It is mainly a bugfix release.

v3.7.3 Features
_________________

- Heavy compiler (VS2008) optimisation
Your processor needs to be SSE-enabled (of course)

- SCP randomise start of track (War Heli)

- New steem.ini-only option TosVersionWarning

- Shortcuts for disk image selection

v3.7.3 Bugfixes
_________________

- Extended monitor in D3D fullscreen

- crash when using D3D without DirectDraw

- reading video counter in some case (20 years STE intro)

- stupid compiling bug in MOVEM (Sea of Colour STE)

- 6301 emu + ACIA timings (Snork/Defulloir)

- some bugs in PRG, TOS, STW support

- Blitter hack for Relapse broke several programs (but it was fine
without option Hacks) - sorry, it was a relapse, the worst being
that I knew it... can't help it

Thanks works great!

One note: It took me some times to make War Heli STX version to work! So if you find this problem make sure you are using the right pasti dll ;)

There's a word of explanation about it here:
http://ataristeven.exxoshost.co.uk/Other_downloads.htm#Pasti

This second version will run the STX versions of Jupiter Masterdrive and Combo Racer on 4 Wheel Drive compilation, but not War Heli, because we do need randomisation for this game.

We would need an improved version of pasti where the options aren't broken or there's some recognition of "$C2" sync mark.
The SCP versions of both War Heli and Jupiter Masterdrive work in v3.7.3 because there's randomisation of starting bit and sync on $C2.

The debug build has been updated without a new version for a bugfix: missing switch for OSD messages.
It is still v3.7.3, but the file is different.
It is only the Boiler, not the regular release.

edit: and again to remove an annoying assert that makes sense only in v3.8.0
