Yet, there is one minor issue left: the last command line in SOURCE\MAKE\BUILDENG.BAT runs the linker which produces a .map file into the BUILD folder for each version compiled.
For some versions, the output file is named .m or .ma instead of .map. It looks like the one or two last characters on the command line are ignored. Is the command line too long?
In Hatari I don't have this naming issue.

Thx for testing.
I'll look into this other issue.
I have another question: does the same project compile on a real ST with TOS 1.02? In Steem it will compile half then hang.

On the same hardware?

I can understand the problem to update STeem if you don't have access to all versions of Windows.

I can use XP, Vista, W7, but like you said it may depend on hardware & drivers too.
One of these days I'll try to add Direct3D support and it may help.

No, it was not the same hardware. When i bought a new computer i got Windows 7.

Altirra supports Direct3D, it might help.

Anyway, you're doing a good job updating STeem. :)

If you use an older OS then it's a bug.

Ah, that's the problem then ~ I am using Win.8.1.

Never used this feature myself. Is this SSE bug or already in v3.2?

this work fine in 3.2

It seems to be the TOS itself having problems with command lines longer than 124 bytes, which is the case when one or two letters are missing (125->MA, 126->M).
There's a remark about it in the "compendium", but 125 should still be OK. Maybe it's not.
I also don't understand why Hatari behaves differently.

I modified hte batch file so that the command line is shorter. I tried again and now it works perfectly fine.
Thanks again for fixing the issue!

Good, it's important that Steem may be used for serious apps emulation.
Two questions remain:
- Will a real ST shorten the names too?
- Will the project complete on a TOS1.02 ST?

I spare you the "arghs!" or bugfixes, and Boiler improvements (check link above for that), and directly go to a nice fix instead:

Sadeness and Spectrum Analyzer

Image

The trace protection routine of those demos is a good test for various aspects of
CPU emulation, the reason it crashed in Steem was that the Status register is used in
some computation, and it's value depends on "undefined" behaviour according
to documentation. Fixed in v3.6.1, no more reason to be Sade.

Coming soon!

- Will a real ST shorten the names too?

I cannot test as I don't have an Atari ST.

- Will the project complete on a TOS1.02 ST?

I tried, and it fails after compiling half of the versions (ok with the 9 FULL versions, fails with the first NOCP version).
It tried with Hatari and TOS 1.02. It fails too. Hatari gives an information message about issues with hard disk and tos 1.02, then compilation fails very early.

I guess we'll have to stick with TOS 1.04 minimum, unless you are willing to troubleshoot the issue with 1.02.

Alright, I thought you did.

[ProToS] wrote:when you put 128MHz for he cpu speed steem stay 8Mhz and when you restart the conf is at 8Mhz even if you save 128

I fixed this too now but it will be for next upload. There was interference with the more precise speed of the PAL ST, it's not precisely 8Mhz but 8021248Hz. The problem was with all speeds, not just 128.

Edit: now available

I recommend you also try TOS 1.02, even 1.00 for some programs.
It works with TOS 1.02 and crashes in Steem and Hatari with TOS 1.04, so without further tests I suppose it would do the same on hardware.

I really love a game called Paradroid 90 and i was wondering if SSE 3.6 will run it? I have tried my version of paradroid 90 and SSE 3.2 doesn't work. thanks :)

I'll look at it but AFAIK there's no problem with that game.

After quite some bugfixes I'd like to release v3.6.1 soon, maybe next week, the latest beta is here as usual:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/steemss ... SE%20Beta/?

It includes my infamous hacked pasti.dll, this version runs Jupiter's Masterdrive STX.

Hi

there's no border removal code, and no color change on the 1st line of the screen, so those extra pixels look like a bug in the demo ; did you tri it on a real STF ?
