How to tell what version of Mint & Firebee firmware I am at

Postby AtariSociety » Mon Apr 25, 2016 11:49 pm

Now that I am back into Firebee and unsure 100% what previous owner did while he owned it, what is the easiest way to #1, confirm what version of Mint is on my CF Card and that I am booting, and #2, what firmware this Firebee is at.

While the Bee boots, can I halt the boot process so I can see all the text as it flies by. I forget what I click to do that and how to continue boot after I read it.

I see a quick Mint 18 alpha word as it scrolls by.

I know when I owned mine 1 year back and prior, I updated the firmware at the time once and unsure if this previous owner ever did it or if a newer version is now out.

Thanks

TJ

just open U:/kern/version in qed to read version and date of mint. or use mintsetter.

Looking at my U:/kern/version it shows:

FreeMINT version 1.18 gcc version 4.6.2 (MiNT 20111028)

That most recent?

Also, how about firmware. How do I check that?

thx

check out http://freemint.org/ for latest snapshot builds. 1-18 is latest official build i think. 1-19 (helmut and trunk) are versions in development.

You can also get this info and some more from the XaAES menu under Process>System>Kernel

Ah, cool, so my 1.18 is current stable.... I will stick with that until 1.19 is official.

I am more a end user so best I stick with stable.
