If you .RAR/.ZIP them up, then you can attach them without having to name them .TXT.

Or then again, I could get my lazy arse into the Control Panel of the forum and allow .STX files .. ahem :)

Nah, don't do this. PASTI files are already pretty bulky, twice the size than the original disk if not larger.
It is much more convenient to ZIP them up....not only for attaching them....
