Palette cycling animations

Postby ppera » Sat Sep 27, 2008 12:55 pm

I rediscovered palette cycling based animations on Atari (what saw first time in Degas - Waterfall).
Made new avatar using that. So, question is where can find some nice palette cycling animations on WEB, or Atari archives ?

I found some Windows (95) logo animation sites (and made 'anti-Intel' anim. logo earlier), but there is not much interesting stuff on couple remaining sites.

I thought my menu for POV129 was pretty cool and it uses colour cycling (you can download it from http://www.povcd.info/downloads/pov121to130.html)
Mac Sys Data/Persistence Of Vision

Instructions said to install Windows 2000 or better so I installed Fedora.

Nice one.

I saw some cool examples for simpler character/object animations too. Will do some examples for here, if there is interest...

Other than the famous waterfall pic and some game title-screens, I can't remember any good palette cycling animations. I'm sure there are some out there. There was a good website that had lots of older ST images separated into categories. I think it had a section for palette cycling images. I just tried searching for it but I couldn't find it back.

Here is one, what I just made. Works on ST low res (uses all 16 colors, even if it is not obvious).

Okay I found the site. Click on the drop-down menu at the top to access various galleries. There is a section with some palette animations.

This one found on some PC page:

However, as it is 320x200, 16 colors may be Atari origin ???
