And second thing anyone knows about Atari ST sprite editors? How many were made ? Which one is best?

The ST version of Advanced OCP Art Studio was said to have a sprite editor.

From practical work with pixel artists myself, I know they prefer regular paint tools like Neochrome or Degas over dedicated sprite editors. It might be wrong for oldschool professional software houses. But those probably kept those tools inhouse.

Yes, i've found ocp quite recently. It looks promising. I've also found several more on Atari mania like FUD editor (three versions) and art director. There is also STOS sprite editor. Anyone knows about other ones?

Why is that? Anyone can tell something about this? In degas there no possibility to preview animations, so this isn't very convenient. They also cannot produce data in some sane format (with additional animation data, sprite size/positions etc..).

RD's Degas Elite XL (Windows) have a block sprite editor , you can load a picture from the web and save to PI(1,2 or 3) , it's a good tool :D

There's also Animaster, but I can't really say how it compares to other such tools.
